  1. It's not just WaterAid in there. There's a lot of other crew being fed there as well. You can actually eat in there most meals for £5. If you go towards the end of each meal session they will take you as long as they have enough food left. And it's good, much better than International Eats. Of course who ever is replacing them this year might be better.
  2. I'll take that as a compliment to my son, who is a Loo Crew Supervisor. I can't take any credit - I'll be on the water bars. I've always enjoyed a short time at Glastonbury-on-Sea. The first year it was there I won a rosette at the bingo.
  3. That year my wife and I were told by a young Australian in a bar on the Wednesday that Grohl and Springsteen were going to guest with McCartney - she said that her brother was working on the McCartney tour. I kept telling people over the weekend despite having no real reason to believe it. The National have done some recent collaborations with Taylor Swift, so I think I'll start that one this year!
  4. It's extremely unlikely that there will be any more WaterAid volunteering places with Glastonbury for anyone who did not apply in Jan/Feb. There were over 3,000 applications for 725 places, so any places that crop up between now and June will be taken up by that group of people. Some might have got lucky in the resale or found other volunteering spaces but most will be sat waiting and hoping.
  5. We have sold some Chilly water bottles at WaterAid water bars and will be doing so again, but we won't be selling the ones that are offered through the ticket process. We will be giving out those that are pre-ordered but won't have extra for sale. But there will be other bottles for sale. It may well be that Chillys themselves will have their own stall as they did last year as well.
  6. I want to say that the previous provider in the tent with Tom's Bar was International Eats, but at my age I could be completely misremembering. WaterAid used them for a few years but last year we moved to Ivy Mead next door. Again I could be misremembering though!
  7. At 5'4" that's probably true. This will be yet another Glastonbury when I'm missing Coldplay............
  8. If by artists you mean a wide range of craft products (jewellery, metalwork, wooden crafts etc) then you will find all sorts all over the site and particularly in the green fields. There you will have chance to have a go at a number of craft skills as well.
  9. I'm afraid not. I don't even know whether we will be selling Chilli bottles anyway but even if we are they will be the price they are, no cross subsidy. Another point to add - sales will be card only, no cash.
  10. If you stretch the definition somewhat (and don't tell him you've done it) then Steve Earle could be?
  11. Bristol Water provide the water to the festival so there should be no issue.
  12. I know the original question was from last year but I thought I would provide an update for this year. WaterAid will once again be distributing any water bottles you bought with your ticket. You can get them at any WaterAid water kiosk or water bar all round the site. The bigger water bars near the Pyramid, Other and Park stages will have most stock, other smaller kiosks may run out quickly. You need to bring your voucher with you - no voucher, no bottle. We will also be selling bottles to those who didn't pre-order whilst stocks last. Last year we had stock for a few days after the start of the festival but if you want one I recommend that you come down sooner rather than later. We are also likely to be selling steel water cups and maybe other bottles. Last year it was Chilli bottles but I don't know as yet what the stock will be for this year. If your bottle voucher has 0 on it please don't come down - that means you didn't pre-order one so you won't get one. We had quite a few wags who tried last year. Of course you can still come down and buy something! And water bottle refills will be free all weekend.
  13. I went to lots of festivals in my teens and twenties in the early 70s - not at Glastonbury until much later although I was at the Bath festival in 1970 which was the inspiration for Eavis. Then, like you I married and had kids and music became less a part of my life (I still have little knowledge of 80s music). Then first my eldest son started going from 15 in 1998 and the year after started volunteering with WaterAid through my contacts. I joined him in 2005 and have been every year since with WaterAid (except 2016 when a bike crash ruled me out). My younger son came too in 2015 and my wife from 2015. I have my own festival, thoroughly enjoy it, have like others a large number of people I only see on the farm, see less and less bands every year, usually avoid most headliners and meet thousands of festival goers through the volunteering. This year we gave a lift to two young girls from Glasgow for their first Glastonbury. It was a joy to see firstly their awe at the site, their determination to go for it and their enthusiasm to come back next year (well until they fell asleep just leaving Shelton Mallet).
