  1. It is fact that FPTP in this country brings about more Tory governments so when I say it gives mainly Tory governments I am correct.
  2. That’s true, it does mainly give Tory governments.
  3. More risk of Farage under PR though?
  4. Yes sorry I miss-read that. What is the Parliament Act?
  5. The Fixed Term Parliament Act has been rescinded. Recent history shows that a Tory government is more unstable.
  6. No way, Lib Dem’s will benefit from tactical voting and ironically from the voting system. Reform will have zero seats.
  7. Sure it’s not likely but it’s more of a risk than with a strong majority Labour government. It’s not scaremongering, it’s true that the Tories win elections in this country and a hung-Parliament increases that the chance of another election.
  8. I don’t think you can completely trust the Lib Dem’s, at the moment they say they want to get the Tories out if they feel they can get something out of it then they’ll get into bed with the Tories as seen in 2010.
  9. It’s also on the MPs themselves and if they want to risk another Tory government. It’s essentially what Labour would do as a minority government, daring opposition parties to vote down a Kings Speech. Thats my point though, it’s all a risk and at this time I don’t think the country needs that.
  10. Have you ever watched the documentary on those 5 days after the 2010 election?
  11. Thats what I mean though, it’s a risk of relying on Lib Dem votes and if that doesn’t work then it could collapse the government triggering an election and letting the Tories back in. It is a big risk especially when the country is in such a bad state as it is now. The SCG are still in the party and probably would love to cause a Labour government some grief if they can.
  12. I found the last hung-Parliament thoroughly entertaining but they can be less stable especially if the size of the majority is very small and the MPs on the fringes are likely to cause issues. I think we can all agree the country has massive issues that need sorting and a stable Labour government is the best way of dealing with that. It is a big risk of a the Tories coming back in with a hung-Parliament and one we shouldn’t need to deal with.
  13. Probably not for the constituents that voted in those seats that want representation.
  14. You could argue a slim Labour majority runs the risk of the Tories coming back in too. For the sake of good governance you’d probably need a majority of 30+
  15. A hung-Parliament runs the risk of the government collapsing and allowing the Tories back in any following election. The best thing for the country would be for Labour to win a majority, sort the issues facing the country and then at the end of the 2nd term enact PR. We can’t run the risk of the Tories getting back in considering how they’ve gutted the country.
  16. It probably won’t, history indicates it won’t but if he feels he needs those votes for the following election then it’s a possibility.
  17. I think we might get some of PR at the end of Labours 2nd term if they get a majority at the next election. It would bring some of the green voters on side and then protect against a Tory majority.
  18. Sorry for earlier on, I got a bit carried away.
  19. Sorry but Starmer is the most successful by-election Labour leader and much as that might annoy you!
  20. I take it the lack of any further mention about by-elections votes means you realise you continue that nonsense anymore You’re the one that pretty much said a few months that you would vote Green even if it meant getting the Tories back in all because you don’t like Starmer. You would risk the Tories back in over a party that will actively change this country for the better. In my mind you are a Tory enabler.
  21. Yeah exactly, you'd think the potential end of Tory rule would be a happy thing but I guess not for some.
  22. You're a betting man, how many seats will the Tories end up on (range of 10)?
  23. There is an element of luck but you have to have that to win in politics but yeah I agree it's not all luck. He has done wonders to get the Labour to the position it is in. Some polls show he is moderately popular but yeah he isn't the most popular politician ever but you don't need to be you just need to beat the person/party in front of you. We've had our populist, that was Johnson and didn't work out very well.
