He's a proper DJ and selector, not just an artist doing a DJ set because he can. He's more along the lines of Mr Scruff. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately it's pretty much pot luck. We always arrive around 2pm on Wednesday and we had a great run of parking very close to gate A each year, it was awesome. Eventually our luck ran out and for the past three festivals we've been parked miiiiiiles away. Best bet is to invest in a decent trolley to make the trip a little easier! I'm kinda surprised they've never thought of offering rickshaws to carry people plus stuff from the outer reaches of the car parks to the gate. They could absolutely rake it in.

TBF given recent events I have become quite strongly pro keeping our nuclear weapons, certainly for the foreseeable future. Imagine if no one but Putin had them, doesn't bare thinking about. Having them definitely serves a purpose, as much as we wish we could un-invent them again. The drugs policy I don't agree with quite so much. That said, if Labour want to win they're never going to campaign on a pledge to legalise drugs. They need to pick their fights. Regardless of their messaging, if should Labour get in at the next general election there'll be far more left wing influence in power than there has been for many years. I'll take anything I can get at the moment!

Is that definitely authentic? If so hopefully they're playing the Tory tactic from 2010, appearing almost right of centre to get into power whereupon they'll march leftwards and drag the country with them.

It's been there years! Nothing wrong with gateaux, it's just pudding innit. No room for class wars in the pudding thread! Besides, my Granny was working class as you like and she loved a bit of Black Forest Gateaux, it's 80s as fuck 🙂

Or for dessert if you're posh. Inspired by the crumble stall that Billy Bragg likes Can you recommend anywhere else to get a bowl of something tasty and sweet? There's a gateaux stall that we love, it's in the market near the bandstand (I think). Have been back for seconds many times. Black Forest Gateaux, Strawberry Gateaux... other gateaux's... Highly recommended. That guy from Great British Bakeoff who made the banging Key Lime Pie had a stall in Williams Green selling said pie for a couple of years at least. Dunno if he still does it? There's a good brownie stall in Williams Green too, think it's a yellow van thing maybe? Nice bowl of chocolate brownie and ice cream or custard. Yum. Also I count the hot cider from the cider bus as pudding. Fucking lovely.

I'm very excited about the crumble stall, how have I missed that. Gonna have to start a pudding thread really.

I'm exactly the same, in 20 years I've only been in once and that was to see The Beat play when the tent was in its old spot. How balanced are the debates? Are they angsty? If they're made up of people from all backgrounds and persuasions rationally and good naturally discussing the matters of the day then I might be tempted to stick my head in, that's definitely something the world needs more of. I avoid going in though as the last thing I'd want is to leave the tent feeling all wound up! Unwinding is very much the order of the day for me that weekend 🙂

What's the most anticipated webcam milestone still to come? Ribbon tower getting its hat on has to be up there...

Just in case anyone isn't border to tears by pyramid screen speculation yet, I'm really busy at work so obviously I just spent some time doing this instead... 2019 2022 2019 + 2022 So almost identical in size. Certainly the exact same height, maybe a metre wider at most 🙂 I would of used 2017 for a cleaner comparison but I can't get the images up on the archive anymore? Dunno about everyone else but I hope that if there are new screens they aren't too big, they will distract from the majesty of the surroundings etc. You could be stood in a field looking at ginormous overbearing screens anywhere. I have so much work to do lol

Towers were up by this time in 2017 so that in itself doesn’t mean there’ll be much difference. The screens themselves don’t normally go up until last minute along with the PA and lighting and that. I guess in general they probably just crack on with jobs as and when they can. Some years the requisite kit will arrive on site earlier or later than others. Weather might delay things or bring things forward etc

Not a fan of that, it makes my OCD itch lol
