listning to nfamady kouyate from glade lineup. sounds amazing. this is the sort of stuff west holts should be packed with.

I saw him play twice last year, I’d really recommend seeing him.

the money it mnust costy to pay for a speacial guest , surely just spend that money on getting better bands than cold play

Maybe I’m naive but I’d believed many do for free, or maybe just travel costs? I’d have thought if McCartney rings you up requesting you to do a song with him you wouldn’t be saying how much is it worth?

Cropredy is a lovely little festival but it has a particular issue in being run as a big party by an ageing band for an ageing cohort of fans - it's the only festival we've been to where we feel relatively like spring chickens!  We live a few miles away and go to the fringe rather than the main festival as there's only one stage and the line-up has been less than compelling for some time. Sadly unless it changes significantly this one will run its course in the next few years.

I expect you’re right, as Fairport are still a headliner it’s pushing it, I saw them about 10 years ago and they were ancient then!

Yes, the headliner hype doesn’t affect ticket sales. The festival could possibly sellout twice over. In comparison other festivals are suffering. I’ve had so many e mails from other festivals promoting ticket sales. In fact this morning I got a message from Fairport conventions  cropredy  festival, usually really well attended, explaining how much it costs to hold the event, how so many similar festivals have folded and asking attendees to tell friends and family to come along. Obviously this year they are struggling.  A nice friendly folksy festival with a great atmosphere in a fantastic location, access to village pubs and local area.

I took a look, worth sharing their comments:

  5. It's fascinating. Provides such a different perspective. I'm thinking it's the Thursday last year, looks pretty full but no music going on in any of the larger stages, but there's something on at the Stonebridge bar, which does have music on the Thursday, and the open stage in T&C by Gate C.

  6. Group of 2 were successful (Booker lives in Singapore)

Group of 4 unsuccessful. I got on 3 times late on but didn’t get past the registration page.

Not sold out yet which is unusual … sittings available Fri and sat

They often sold out within hours in previous years. Happy to have been once, but at those prices plus the risk of it clashing with something of interest it’s not worth it in my view.

Robert Fripp at Avalon and Albert Lee at Acoustic, not Indy but for those seeking a great guitarist....

Fripp: Best guitarist at Glastonbury 2024 I’d suggest! (Bowie, Talking Heads, Blondie, Gabriel, Eno, and his own bands…)

  9. I admire her for being so prolific (and hardworking), there’s very few acts that have maintained a high level of quality for as long as she has.

If anybody needs bonus tracks after 31 new songs then they have issues.

I’d opt out on most artists bonus tracks. 95% should be billed as ‘not good enough to be on the album’.
