Mate's mate who's in a band was told by their booking agent that The Strokes are headlining this next year. Never met the bloke so no idea what to make of it. Would imagine it'd be an APE Presents day if true.
Cheers lads.

I’m not that much a fan of those I don’t get this.
Placid just asked in group chat what happened to Alabama Shakes and I said they're gonna headline WH after dental predicting it for years like Lana Del Rey at Latitude.

I trusted you with that information. Gutted that you told everyone.
It wasn't you who told me it.

That's our boys right?
Yes I told you all in July they were headlining APE. Maybe you'll all start listening to me now.

The year @dentalplan lands the job as Glastonbury booker.

The only Glastonbury set that tops this for me was Radiohead. Gruff is flying solo at the moment though.
Was a great gig this, I watched it with my friends from Soton Furs.

She was on about Cardi B in 2019.

And then someone posted a picture of a horse with its willie out
In fairness it was the picture he set as his profile picture.

Eh?
He changed his profile pic to a furry and asked where he can find furries at Glastonbury...

Anyway, they’re on a hiatus at the moment as far as I know. Gruff is still touring his last album and I’d imagine there’s a decent chance he’ll be there. Guess he could pop up at a number of stages.
I don't think he was actually after SFA.

Oh, Bon Jovi? Well they aren't playing 3rd down at Glastonbury.

Cheers mate but literally whose tour dates are these?

And subs are being ruled out left, right and centre.
-
Are Motorhead not classed as a metal band? Fair enough.
-
It was Royal Blood last time tbf.
In fact, it's only been a metal band once out of three instances.
-
@rawaudioinput just suggested BMTH for it. Didn't someone on here meet them and say they're doing another festival on top of APE that they're not headlining? Surely could only be Glasto or Big Weekend.

Very nice chat with George and Emily. Delighted that the Metal Slot is a fixture, although I suspect we'll get Greta Van Fleet doing their Kingdom Come/Led Zeppelin tribute in that slot. Will be interesting to see if it is another classic act or someone like GVF who are new.
Thought it was interesting to hear Emily say that they have all the stages they need right now, which means the rumoured addition to The Park could serve another purpose.
All in all an enjoyable listen. Am not really a fan of Ezra but he seemed like a thoroughly decent chap.
No way Greta Van Fleet would do it. They'd be like 3rd down the John Peel.
-
Can't believe Tenacious D still exist. Can't think of anything worse than them taking a 3rd down Pymild slot.

Smashing Pumpkins perhaps?
Billy Corgan confirmed that their Summer tour is split into two legs, and Glasto is bang in the middle of the two legs. Looks impossible, unfortunately.

Alice in Chains Pymild rumour boutta come true.

Okay that's an actual interesting bit of info. Please be Iggy.

2019 Headliners
in Chat

Exactly. For the majority of people I know who know anything about music/Glasto, if they'd asked me who's playing and I'd said The Strokes I'm 99% sure they'd assume I meant headlining, and not in a lower slot than the likes of Arcade Fire and Kasabian have done over the last few years, and that Stormzy is doing this year.
Also, has no one considered the possibility that Nick Grimshaw doesn't actually know whether they're headlining or not? Maybe he just knows they're playing and doesn't know what position.
I think the fact nobody saying it won't be The Strokes can offer a realistic alternative says a lot. It's always "pay up for Madge" (they can't afford her and Emily's said she isn't playing), "get Gaga over" (she'd have to come up with a whole new show on top of the one she's currently doing and come over to Europe to do one low-paying show that'd probably earn her less money that she'd spent on constructing said new show), or "I think The Killers are more likely" (they have one US show planned for the whole of 2019).
Look at other festivals - who else is there they can book? They can't conjure up a headliner out of nowhere if there's no one available. Especially when they pay naff all. They're lucky to get half the headliners they get accepting to do it for the lower fee, so I think it's pretty naff to turn our noses up at them getting a standard headliner like The Strokes who would headline anywhere else (R&L, TRNSMT, IOW, APE, BST), and expect them to get a megastar out of nowhere instead.
