Other than Glastonbury where else could they go?

Reading/Leeds, IOW, Latitude have all announced. They're not doing Download. The likes of Kendall would be too small for them. APE doesn't fit their schedule. BST are unlikely to have them back after last time...

Only viable alternatives could be Rize (if that's even still a thing), TRNSMT (which wouldn't stop them playing elsewhere) or a one off gig somewhere like Finsbury Park.

Several bits of info pointing to them doing APE, with some of them even coming after it became apparent it wouldn't fit in with their tour schedule.

Think it's Glasto plus either APE or nothing else.

To be fair, it’s only those three and Noel that we’ve had info on isn’t it? Even then, there’s also someone with info that Noel’s playing 2020. There’s normally at least one surprise so I doubt it actually will be those three but they’re the ones who seem most likely at the moment.

Someone on here PMd me that he'd been told it was LG, CG and LDR, and he got told this before Neil started the Stormzy thread with the CG info in it.

However he was also told Vampire Weekend were 4th down the Pyramid on Sunday lol.

Shotgun got to number 1 in the charts and has been fucking inescapable. You definitely will’ve heard it.

Any reason for The 1975 being back in the frame or just a stab in the dark?

I'll give it a listen now.

Someone on Twitter replied to the thingy saying it's 75 subbing The Cure on Sunday 100%.

I think there's quite often one Latitude headliner at Glastonbury but I'm not sure if there's ever been more than one. Let's hope for Lana rather than George Ezra but I wouldn't be surprised if none of them played.

Yeah heaflining Latitude certainly doesn't rule anyone out (New Order did it in 2016), but I think George Ezra is only headlining festivals so far so hopefully that does rule him out.

Very true. Think he’d have to sub now. When we used to say about Sheeran playing third down or Ellie Goulding, they’d weren’t headlining fests like this.

He’s a future fucking headliner though, sadly. Maybe they’ll keep powder dry for that.

You reckon? I can't see him getting any bigger than he is now, but then I think I said that before his second album came out so could easily be wrong. Did he even have any hit singles on this album? I'm surprised it took him to such large gigs/festival placings as I don't think I heard anything from it.

Didn't they do an absolute shedload of European festivals last summer? Mate of mine definitely saw them in Belgium, think I saw them on the Nos Alive poster as well.

Yeah, but there are still loads they didn't so who'd be queuing up to book them if they were active around Glasto. Seems odd that they'd just do Glasto and take none of these other offers at the same time.

Macca might never have been playing mind

True but I find it unlikely that Neil heard from several reliable sources (including, I think, one of the biggest promoters in the country) that he was headlining, Emily and him both hinted at him playing on the radio, and someone on Twitter heard that he was booked and then pulled out, unless that's what happened.

Edit: Oh and he was also rumoured by Neil for BST which we heard later that he wasn't playing, suggesting he may also have pulled out of that.

With Idles' stature they could please a lot of people as a sub or Far Out headliner, or possibly even Thursday headliner. They won't headline outright, but they're a bit of a cult phenomenon right now and will go down really well at Green Man. King Gizz aren't as big as War On Drugs or Fleet Foxes, but they still won the in no way mathematically reliable prize of most t-shirts I saw people wearing that weekend.

My guess right now would be First Aid Kit, The National, Father John Misty headlining, with John Hopkins headlining Thursday.

Is Jon Hopkins not bigger than First Aid Kit and FJM?

"couple of blokes" definitely referred to Stormzy, Macca, and the Cure. Let's be honest.

Macca has fallen through so they are going for a Plan B like with Prince/ The Who 2015; therefore I'm disregarding her comment as any fact now.

EE should have just had a couple of croaks instead. crrrrrrr.

It was only said like a couple of days before the person on Twitter said Macca wasn't playing anymore so I dunno about that. Would be a pretty short interval for the news to get out to the lady who tweeted it and for a tweet to come up on her timeline about Macca headlining.

Was this prior or post Stormzy announcement.

Prior. It was the same time as when she basically confirmed Stormzy by saying they've got a UK solo artist at the top of his game (or something along those lines) headlining the Friday.

Is Michael involved at all with that stuff still? Seems more about the logistics nowadays.

I recall reading that Nick does a lot of the heavy lifting as far as booking acts and pulling in major headliners, but people only beg Emily or ‘The Eavii’ (hate that term) to book their faves. :P

*Makes mental note to use the term 'The Eavii' more often*

That would would imply 3 solo male headliners? I cant see that personally. I'm taking it as 2 blokes being Stormzy + another solo bloke... they a band or group or female for 3rd act.

Maybe, I just thought she means they've just got blokes as headliners.

Like, if it was Stormzy/Macca/The Cure, that's 7 blokes (I know it can't be Macca now but ignore that).

    If it's Stormzy/The Strokes/The Cure, that's 11 blokes.

    Same thing tbh.

Obviously the word "couple" isn't entirely accurate if this is what she means, but it's what I took it as.

Like, if she meant 2 solo males and the third headliner was a male band it'd be a weird way to say it.

"We've got a couple of blokes headlining."

"Oh, who's the third headliner then? A female?"

    "No, just some more blokes."

Anyway with regards to headliners.... are we still going on the fact ME said "2 or 3 of the acts haven't played before" and EE said we have a "couple of guys"... Was ME just talking about acts in general or headliners? Or is he becoming a bit like Prince Philip now and just says random things?

IF what ME said is true and what EE said is true then we have Stormzy (a bloke) but hes played before so would mean the other 2 headliners would have to not have played before and one would have to be a bloke?

Or can we just ignore everything they say as blowing smoke up our arses to keep up guessing?

Well with the quote about 2 or 3 acts who've have played before, it's something he always says and I think I remember that it wasn't even specifically about headliners, just the bigger acts on the lineup, in which case you've already got Kylie, and he could even have potentially been including subs or whatever in that.

And on the "couple of blokes" thing it definitely sounded to me like she was saying all the headliners were male, otherwise it doesn't really make any sense to specify the male acts. So I think the remaining headliners will both be males.
