devilman
Anyone else going? I have done the first 2 years and it has been excellent. Looking forward to a bit of ZZ Top as strangely I have never seen them.
Cooter
Bit late with the reply but yes me and my bruv are going, didn't grab our tickets til a couple of days ago. Quite looking forward to it, we're both ageing rockers and it's only 20 minutes down the road. Always loved ZZ Top, mostly older stuff though, saw them at Glasto and must say they were a bit of a let down so I'm hoping they'll be a lot better at a rock themed fest. Also UFO, hopefully they'll have better haircuts now! Reef, Black Star Riders, Kyle Gas etc etc, will be a great weekend and a good laugh. Cooter
Also, what's the deal with alcohol/food etc, anyone know?
devilman
Well ZZ Top didn't disappoint. They nailed it. Extreme were a bit meh but ok. Saxon as good as ever. Best bands for me were Vintage Caravan, Monster Truck, UFO and best of all was Devin Townsend. Holy fuck why have I never seen him before? Blues Pills get a special mention too. Man that girl has some energy.
Cooter
Must say I was pleasantly surprised with this fest, small but almost perfect. Great selection of rocky old school bands, highlights for me were Focus, StevenSeagull, Reef, Devin Townsend (very talented and funny as fuk) and the great ZZtop, although whoever decides their setlist needs a slap to be honest. And doing Jailhouse Rock as an encore, wtf! Anyway, overall a great festival, good family like atmosphere, small but nice selection of decent alcohol, nice polite staff/security etc, great lineup. Surprised it didn't sell out in minutes although at £210 for 3 days it was ridiculously overpriced. Edited August 3, 2017 by Cooter
devilman
Was £150 for me. The 3 day thing was a one off I reckon. £110 for 2 days next year if you buy now. Agree with the ZZ Top encore.
Cooter
Me too but after booking fees the Sat/Sunday came to £163. With Friday being an extra £50 it would have been £210+ for the 3 days, though gutted we didn't get to see Saxon. To be honest the price was probably the only reason it didn't sell out. A much fairer £55 per day would have attracted a lot more punters and ultimately more booze/food sales etc etc. One other moan, what the hell was the deal with the lack of loos? Makes me grateful it didn't sell out!
