Like the Green Gatherings of old, before they got so Big...

A 4-day, 5000-person eco-festival on a farming estate in Berkshire, 28-31 July...

A bunch of creative environmentalists are weaving together the disparate strands of the Green and Transition movements to present an event with a little bit of everything wholesome and fun.

There will be solar-powered stages; platforms for great Green thinkers; a Green Forum for discussion and debate; showcases of alternative, sustainable and innovative technology; areas where you can watch, learn or buy from Traditional Crafts-folk; a Healing Field bursting at the hedges with Complementary Therapists; plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and extend your understanding of Green, Transition and Climate Change issues; loads of activities for kids and teens; ethical and fairtrade stalls; organic cafes; a dedicated GAMA crew ensuring accessibility issues are dealt with and that the festival can be enjoyed by all; demonstrations of alternative ways of living; Permaculture gardens and sustainable-farming exhibitions; open-air theatre and games on the 'Village Green'... and whatever art, costumery and crazy ideas you decide to bring along yourselves

It sounds good to me. Like the BGG distilled to its essence... getting back to the roots of the Green Gatherings which began long, long ago (before we knew about Peak Oil, before Climate Change was an everyday phrase)... We're hoping this will be like a miniature version of the whole Green Fields area of Glastonbury (ie the best bit!).

Oh yeah, tickets... Tickets are £75 for a limited period/until they sell out. £90 full price. Under-12s go free, teenagers (with an adult) £50 I think. There's a simple website (it doesn't flash or sing or jump about): www.greengathering2011.com

Hi all, looking forward to warming and relaxing you and your friends at sams Magic Hat sauna hot showers and relaxation area at the green gathering. We got a message back saying they'd sort out some tickets when we emailed asking if they'd like us to come with sauna and spare kw of solar power. love sue and mark

We are running a Speakers Forum by day and cabaret stage in the evening.

So far confirmed to speak are Jay Griffiths, author of 'Pip, Pip a sideways look at time', 'Anarchipeligo' set in the Newbury Road Protest Camps and more recently 'Wild' about the remaining truly wild places in the world. Jay and Benny Wemba, will be talking about Papua New Guinea and showing a 20 min short film about the struggle the against Indonesian army and mining interests.

Dr Chris Busby will be talking about Fukushima and the fallout. If you ever had a moments distrust of the nuclear industry Dr Busby will provide all the facts you ever needed about one of the largest scams of our generation.

There will also be speakers from Transition Town network and most other topics under the green sun.

Yip Yip Yippee!

This is all good news. Totally chuffed to bits that SAMs Sauna will be there... didn't know about the Shelterbox thing but it sounds like a very very good cause... and I'm already hoping I'll get enough time off from the cafe to hear some of these Speakers in the Green Forum!

I think Dave Weirdigan (also of LEDfantastic) will be doing demos and teaching-&-talking about super low-energy LED lighting too... from a glowing miniature 'ideal dome exhibition' in a geodesic outside Weirdigans Cafe... so if you think a UFO has landed in our garden, that's what it will be

There's a competition ongoing to come up with the name for the first TGG (The Green Gathering) newspaper and I think one of the prizes will be a meal for two in Weirdigans!

Just announced - Green Gathering 2011 wll take up to 300 ticket holders from the Big Gren Gathering 2009. if you're a ticket holder from BGG 09 and you want to exchange your ticket for a GG2011 ticket, contact the BGG office.

And the latest on that ticket swap offer: if you have an unused, unswapped, unrefunded BGG 2009 ticket and would like to swap it for a TGG 2011 ticket (that's The Green Gathering), then email gg2011swap@big-green-gathering.com before 1st May. There are 300 swaps on offer and TGG 2011 is set to be a smaller, up-to-date but also back-to-its-roots incarnation of BGG...

TGG is currently looking for sponsors, stewards and volunteers, litter pickers, green technology and innovation exhibitors, transition-focussed projects and campaigns. There are also a few band/entertainment slots to be filled... youtube

£75 tickets available until mid-May then it's going up to £90. Swaps for people still holding cancelled BGG 09 tickets available until the end of May or until all 300 are gone, whichever comes soonest - so hurry!

This NEW Green Gathering will be held on a beautiful traditional estate in West Berks. Transport will be provided from the main train station and also the local smaller ones.

TGG will be showcasing future technologies and inspiring people to adopt sustainable lifestyles. There will be a Transition-focused area with fantastic networking opportunities, highly topical speakers in the Green Forum and classic festival bands (funk, folk, prog rock, afro-beat, reggae and more...). Expect a fantastic Green Crafts field and a full-on Kids' Area.

With a capacity of just 5000 TGG 2011 will have an intimate and family friendly ambience.
