designermagazine
MAPS – The Northern Quarter Festival – 23/24/25 May 2008 Music, art, poetry and stuff – that’s what MAPS is all about. Stuff, artistic stuff, musical stuff, creative and happy stuff. Five of Manchester’s best arts and music co-ordinators have joined forces to bring a wonderful Spring Bank Holiday festival to the City’s Northern Quarter. Incorporating every piece of the delightful creativities listed above, the MAPS organisers want to bring together the different people who spend their time in and around Manchester’s creative quarter, as well as the businesses and organisations creating and constructing within it. Everyone’s welcome!! The festival’s aim is to support and promote music, art and creativity in the busy Northern Quarter, and in Manchester as a cultural city, through promotion, enjoyment and involvement of the public in the wide variety of activities encountered in the area. Local artist Stan Chow (www.chinkyafro.com) has created the brand and promotional material for the Festival, Up The Racket are DJing, and local shops such as Mr Scruff’s Cup cafe are contributing to the effort too, with offers available throughout the Festival. Venues will be filled with fashion markets, Whim Wham Club dancers, circus acts and face-painters as well as the fantastic musical delights that Manchester is so well known for. Working in conjunction with media partners and tourism channels in Manchester, with 3 days and 12 venues full of over 150 bands, MAPS promises to be one of the Summer’s best and truest local festivals. Keep checking for regular updates on the bands involved… Day tickets and weekend passes are available too! Here’s to bigger things next year! strawdogrob
Hi Could anyone confirm if Kate Rogers is playing on Saturday or Sunday and if so what time? I can see conflicting days/venues for her performance and there is no information on her website, so I'm stumped :-/ Any help would be greatly appreciated :-) Thanks Rob
