Queueing up and getting a good camping spot Vs turning up later

Trying to work out what do.

Is it better to queue at a silly time and put your self through another sleep deprived day, or just have a decent nights sleep at home and rock up to the festival in the afternoon? Is getting a good camping spot that important?

Could have a mix of the two, last year we left home at 7am and arrived by about half 9 we only got in an hour and a half after some friends that left the same area 4 hours earlier.

However I am not sure if we just got lucky ...

For my group its important and there's quite a few of us so we would have zero chance of camping together in our preferred camping areas if we turned up late. If there's not many of you and/or you don't mind where you camp then its probably not such a priority to get there earlier. I don't find the queing that bad, have a few drinks and a laugh with my friends and I don't find the lack of sleep detrimental to my enjoyment of the festival. If you need your sleep and don't like sitting in the cold then maybe don't queue over night.

Plus I'm naturally very impatiant so the earlier I can get in and start enjoying it the better. I know I'd hate knowing other people were already there while I was still travelling or at home!
