Hey everyone. A first timer at Glasto this year! :)

Just a quickie...

We are having to travel down in 2 cars due to the fact that we are female and will no doubt overpack! ha! ;)

Actually we all drive tiny cars (the biggest car being a fiesta!) and we are no way expecting to be able to pack 2 small tents, 4 lots of bedding, other camping gear, 4 rucksacks AND 4 people in one vehicle! Is there anywhere anyone can suggest somewhere in the carpark areas for the 4 of us to be able meet up together? (before queueing to get in) We dont want to have to rely on phones as i know that signal isnt always top notch in these kind of situations.

Thanks guys! :)

The car parks are huge, and unless you arrive at the same time, and are arriving at the site from the same direction you could end up parked in completely different places. There are also not that many easily identifiable meeting points in the car parks. I would suggest meeting up at an agreed location outside the site but nearby (perhaps a motorway service station, Tescos in Shepton Mallet - depends where you're coming from really) and then travel the last bit of the journey in convoy so you get parked up together.

Failing that, mobile reception has actually been quite reliable the last few years so you probably won't have any problems calling each other and meeting up once you're parked.

I thought as much, well we are both coming from London way so meeting at Shepperton Mallet Tescos would be for the best. is it possible to travel in convoy? have you done it? Im guessing the roads are going to be insanely busy and slow moving!

Thanks for the reasurance regarding phone reception, the last few years ive been at V and not had a hope in hells chance of getting through to any mates on site!

I've not tried travelling in convoy myself, but i think others on here have. Shepton Mallet isn't far, so you shouldn't have that much trouble staying close. I doubt you'd get separated by more than a few cars. How busy the roads are will depend on what day & time you're arriving. I've been luck in that i've rarely had to queue on the way into the site/car parks - only on the way out!

Phone reception has improved a lot over the last few years. Used to be patchy at best, but i've had harly any problems in the last couple of years. Best not to rely on the phones working, but you should be fine. Battery power can be more of an issue, but at the start of the festival that shouldn't be a problem!
