The 'very special guest' slot was on sunday night from midnight til 2am, was rumoured to be Chems, but was actually 'UNKLE'.

One of the chems did a dj set backstage at the park for the staff, but no festie main appearance

He was actually pretty f*cked off that people were so arsey that it wasnt the chems.....Stonebridge had to be closed off, barriers up and one in one out by about 12ish, most of the people were milling around 'waiting' for the chems to appear.... he announced at least three times over the PA that Chems were definitely NOT playing and then we were told it was an Unkle set (or rather one of them)....it was ok though. Then rumour went round that chems were playing the rabbit hole instead...cueing a mass exodus from the tent B)

I was one of the ones milling about outside having read a rumour on here I think! I did get me to thinking that if you were DJing in a bar or one of the smaller venues then a well chosen "strong rumour" could guarantee a big crowd to hear your tunes!

I think that it was the way that it was worded in the line-up ("VERY special guests") that led so many to believe so firmly that the Chems were playing. And having spoke to a few people I knew working backstage at the park, I think it is entirely possible that the Chems WERE due to appear but the sheer volume of foot traffic from 11pm onwards in the park area (it was rammed) made a possible re-think occur and the set was dropped on safety grounds? Stonebridge is quite diddy after all and with the volume of people we saw outside trying to get in I think the situation could have got very dodgy very quickly if they had strolled on at twelve

Yeah I reckon you could be right there was a lot more security in evidence as well in the area who when I asked them seemed to think that Tom and Ed may have been due to make an appearance. You cant beat a good special guest rumour all adds to the fun IMO!

It was supposed to be James Lavelle but apparently he didn't turn up - well, he hadn't by 1.15am (when he was meant to be on at 12) and there was another DJ due on at 2. There were lots of people waiting for the Chems, the DJ guy beforehand did announce it wasn't them and then said a little while later it was UNKLE. We stuck around because this would have been awesome but he didn't show & the security guys / people who worked there that we spoke to were getting pretty pissed off about it. We left at 1.15am to head to the Rabbit Hole, which was ace.

I stayed to 1am and the compere who announced at midnight that it definitely wasn't going to be the Chemical Brothers I am sure was still DJing when I left. And he wasn't that good at all. Some OK tunes but his mixing was pretty awful. I'm sure the man from Unkle (geddit!?!) didn't turn up.
