Mendip Council Report from last year?

Guest Sam Crawley

Hello peeps,

I remember reading the 2008 report by Mendip Council post festival and finding it quite interesting. All about how well the tweaks to the layout, licence etc worked and what should be improved for the following year. I've had a look on these boards and Google and can't see the 2009 report - has anyone picked up on this, and if so can you post a link? Is good pre-festie reading :P

Cheers! (apologies if it has been posted and I've missed it)

I love this report, it's full of such geeky technical details, like the ratio of washbasins to toilets!

Here's another good one - If you lived around Glastonbury do you think it would be worth complaining to the council the week after the festival about "possible noise over the weekend"?! I mean really...

"During the festival MDC received 15 complaints (either directly or via GFL) of amplified music from the occupiers of 9 residences and one complaint of helicopter noise. One further complaint was received which may have not been due to the festival and another caller expressing concern about possible noise over the weekend."

I was just reading the bit about camping and it mentions that the fire wood provided was too long. It was my first time last year and I remember thinking how can anyone make a campfire out of it! We managed to get some but we couldnt cut it up and it was way too long to use as one piece. I was just wondering is it it normally this size? And was it just our camp who failed feebly at trying to cut it into smaller sections?!

    • Yep - should have been the Stones.
    • Yeah I do agree on the 2 hour thing. But if they were subbed by Biffy/WA only doing 75 mins or so would be doable.   Only reason I suggested them was because we know they're back doing shows here next year.
    • Its probably the culmination of issues that have been simmering under the surface for a while. Spain ran a regularisation program recently that allows undocumented individuals to obtain temporary legal status and then a route to EU citizenship. 1.2 million applied. At the same time Montenegro is having to close its citizenship via investment program as part of EU ascension talks.    Countries are obviously asking, why are we having to reject investors whilst others can wave anyone in?
    • I'm not sure, they aren't giving any headliner in that format 2hours and Foos would have at least 2. I wouldn't say Reading is likely for them next year either. If they are as said going big on a tour with stadiums and festivals then the UK is once place they can definitely do stadiums and that would rule them out. And that's even if they come back for a second UK stint as I fully expect them in Europe from very early. That could be seen as hyperthetical but there are is some places I cannot see them not doing from history.
