In 2000 I lost my wallet on the Sunday of the festival. On the Tuesday after, I came downstairs, checked the mail, and found an enevelope, containing my wallet, with all cards in tact and a note saying "Dear Gary, found at Glastonbury. Lucky you".

Sadly, it was anonymous, so never got to thank the wonderful soul who went to the trouble of returning it.

Mr P&P left his camera on a bench in Permaculture last year while he was eating lunch, then got up and left it behind... d'oh. He only realised about an hour later, headed back to Permaculture and the girl behind the counter went and fetched it - she said someone had handed it in to her. We were very grateful indeed to get it back!

Similar camera story- Mr.Jayne's camera fell out of his pocket somewhere near our tent. Two guys found it, looked through the photos and were able to deduce where we were camping and returned it.

We offered to bring them some beers over later and they said 'yeah, it's the big blue tent over there, can't miss it...' so unfortunately we could never find them again!

great stories, i was reading some of the theft threads earlier and these make you feel much better!

they reminded me of a time a few years back when we saw a strange light eminating from the grass near the g stage, after cautiously wondering over, bemused as to what it was, we realised it was a phone ringing!

we arranged to meet the owners the next afternoon, me and the other half went and we returned it to another couple who had exactly the same names as us, even spelling 'loren' the same (incorrect) way!! t

I love these stories; Glastonbury has such a wonderful vibe where everybody is so friendly, warm, and helpful; I even saw some policewomen with fairywings on horseback.

How this contrasts with my experiences at V last summer. We had quite a lot of stuff with us and the trek back to the car was long we decided to do things in 2 trips. My friend and I took everything bar our jackets and my rucksack which we left inside the tent which we would dismantle upon our return. When we returned an hour and a half later we found our tent had been nicked. I mean, they took the whole tent down, leaving our jackets and my rucksack on the grass. How mean was that......................

Not at Glastonbury, but at last years Reading during Kaiser Chiefs a random girl came up to my friends and I and asked if any of us had lost some keys. I put my hand in my pocket to find that my car keys were gone, would've been screwed if she hadn't have found them and brought them back! Should have bought her a beer but I wasn't really in a fit state :P

  • 4 weeks later...

Thought id revive this with an epic tale from last year.

So after spending several hours on a train to the festival, and waiting for a coach at Castle Cary for 2 hours, while drinking quite steadily, i was busting for pee. Only when i went to go a bus turned up to take us. So i jumped on board with my mates and away we went with me feeling like i was goin to explode. 20 minutes down the road and we're stuck in traffic so i asked the driver if i could nip off quick to relieve myself. He told that i could, but if the traffic moved he'd be going with, so i returned to my seat. One of the people offered me a bottle after 5 minutes of me complaining and said i should go pee in the corner. So off i stroll into the corner to do my thing only for the bus drier to tell me i could get off, perfect i thought! Only as i was finishing up it drove off with the other buses under police escort. So there i was no mobile, no money, no ticket, NOTHING!

So i start following traffic down the road and a mobile radio BBC (BBC4 i think) unit rolls up n offers me a lift to the site. I was so grateful! We shared a few stories and had a laugh. I cant remember his name but ill never forget how grateful i was for this bloke giving me a lift. Not only that as we approached the site i had asked the lady in front of i could have a lift to the car park as i wasnt gunna get in tye same entrance as the radio man. She said shed be more than happy and i found out that she was from Brighton as well!

So thanks to the radio man, and the girl and from Brighton, and the person who offered me theor bottle. But to that bus driver who left me at the side of the road... F**K YOU!
