Me and my fella had an amaaazing weekend.

I had been bricking it a bit beforehand cos we were taking some sweeties in, got there at 4pm on the Saturday and not one sniffer dog in sight tho! So all the stressing for nothing, doh! lol great start to the weekend tho. The initial queue to get in was a bit of a drag, but really not too bad at all, when we used to go Global we'd been in the queue to get into camping for about 5 hours before, which really did take the piss. So yeah, half hour to get through, really couldn't complain like.

Went to the Jagermeister truck to try and find some guys off here for the meet, but couldnt see any one :) bit gutted to have missed u all.

Headed to the Ape tent to meet a mate, and stayed bout 20 mins for some dub-step, which was alright despite not normally being my thing!

Checked out funkagenda in Swedish House Mafia, a good taste of things to come :) On to Cream tent afterwards and Hernan Catteneo rocked it. Saw a bit of Pete Tong after but had to nip to loo! So then off to Tiesto, and we only stayed about 40 mins cos A) there were loads of twats chucking drinks around which ruined it a bit, and :D the sound was a bit off, not loud enough!

So we made a beeline for Swedish House Mafia, had to queue which is a bit of an annoyance yeah, but after 20 mins we were in and it was well, well worth the wait. It wasn't even too busy inside, certainly no crushing like I heard there was over at Guetta. We even managed to make our way to the front quite eaily, to the right of the stage. SHM f**kin nailed it and it was the place to be on Sat night. Stayed there practically all night after that. Sweet!!

Did any one catch High Contrast or Chase & Status? Would love to have but we just couldn't bring ourselves to leave SHM lol.

That night we buzzed all the way back to our car, feeling blown away by it all. We had to sleep in the car cos we could only get weekend non camping ticks, but tbh it was better than camping for us! The car was secure, warm, dry, comfy with our duvet and reclined seats lol. There was no trouble, a nice peacefull atmosphere around (one dude knocked on our window and I nearly bricked it but all he was after was some spare water and we happily obliged :)) that was the great thing about the whole weekend, everyone seemed really friendly and chilled, with many ppl coming up to us high fiving, shaking our hands and asking if we would share our UV face paints hehe! Some people has taken there work vans into the car park and had mattresses in the back - what a cracking idea lol!

I'll keep it brief for Sunday as I seem to be blabbing too much! Apart from the shite weather and the last minute set time change to the main stage (what the f**k!) which meant we missed Calvin Harris (not impressed) it was the perfect night to wind down. Saw Sander Van Doorn smash it both in Cream tent and mix mag terrace! And Deadmau5 - what can I say - loudest dirtiest bass all weekend, f**king brilliant. Roll on next year :D

I had a blast for my first Creamfields (at 43!!!). Sander Van Doorn and Eddie Halliwell pretty much made the event for me, oh, and Sasha, oh and Ferry Corsten, oh and... - and I tragically missed Deadmau5 - but what a great weekend.

As for the VIP treatment - there wasn't any! Had to queue up for hours like everyone else - and the VIP tents were the furthest away. Though appreciated the Hed Kandi seating for an intermittent 'lounge' now and again.

So many characters, and the police dogs didn't know where to bloody look - made me laff. The Liverpool girls made me very welcome too - was 'our' Gary most of the weekend!

Would I go again? Well, I think I'd prefer the weather to be less cold (almost died of hypothermia after coming out of one of the tents on Saturday and had a huge walk back to my MyHab) and wet (most tents were downhill of the incoming rain!). But the opportunity to see so many of the DJ's that shaped my musical life was a once-in-a-lifetime event. Have it!

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
