Im not really too sure what time to leave, im travelling by car to Chelms and its going to take me about 3 hours, want to be the traffic, get there early so not much cuing to be done and also get a good spot, any suggestions/previous experiences would help.

Thanks.

I live 4 hours away from Weston Park by road, used to take 6 to 7 hours to get to V, in 2007 it took 10 hours so we now go on train.

Catch train at 6:30, tent up by 11:00 last year, catching same trains this year...

There never seems to be any congestion on the roads the shuttle buses take from Stafford station to the site, are the buses allowed down the closed roads??

We go from Norwich and usually leave at around 9am (there are hundreds of people all who use Tesco there as a meeting point) and get to the Yellow site around 11. Last year we got to the gate by 11.30 and they had already opened it so we went stright in, opened the beer and then started to put the tents up.

To be honest took about the usual amount of time to get there - traffic was only 'bad' for the last 250 yards.

Driving from London to Shropshire on Thursday and going out with old friends in Shifnal or Albrighton. Stopping overnight then getting in the queue for Weston Park super early (unless hangover says otherwise!). Hoping to camp in Orange for our first V.

Camping in Red at Hylands…first time for us. Originally we wasn’t planning on getting there until late lunchtime…perhaps 2pm/3ish, but seeing all you guys leaving at 5am to Q by 10 has worried me! (Gate’s don’t open until noon do they??)

We’re only driving from London – but is it a necessity to get their earlier for a good spot? Do you choose where you want to be situated or are you given an area by a steward in consecutive order as you go in…

From previous red camper’s experience, would you kindly donate your advice!? …what would be the best planned arrival time?

Thanks in advance.

Ditto everyone else on the traffic, it varies so much! Last year it took me an hour from home to Weston, I live 30 miles away. In 2007 it took me TWELVE hours!!! Left home at 12 noon, arrived and put the tent up at midnight. I was not amused!!!

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
