don't worry about using a mates ticket next year...

as some of you may know, i am one of the wristbanders at glasto. i won't tell you what gate i worked on but i noticed a fair few people come through with tickets that clearly wernt them in the photograph. the first two people i asked them to tell me their address, both got their postcode wrong, then i asked for ID...they had ID, but it still was not them. and after that i got my supervisor.

my supervisor, being the nice, kind guy he is let them through anyway. so after that i saw about 10 people go through my gate with someone elses ticket. i let them through anyway...i mean, if my supervisor is just going to let them through anyway then what's the point. maybe it was just my supervisor being a nice guy but if this was the case for all the gates then why bother putting photos on the ticket? i had one chick come through for her wristband and she was of asian ethnicity - and she had an overweight white girls ticket and ID. the thing that annoyed me more was that she kept lying to me...saying that it was her but she had just 'lost loads of weight'. it's like umm..but you're not white! fml.

so next year..feel free to come with your mates ticket because you more than likely will be let in.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about that!!!

I went back out to the car one day and on the way back in got photo id'd because I'd changed the colour of my hair since I bought the ticket. The guy didn't believe it was me! Good job I had my driving licence with me!

This was the first year that my photo was properly checked - they asked me to take my sunglasses off and actually looked.

a friend of a friend also came in on his mates ticket though on Friday afternoon. He apparently and no problem at all but they did look remarkably similar.

Hmmmmmmm......One of these incidents may relate to my friend as he got in on someone else's ticket.

Obviously the picture wasn't of him but I imagine the fella we spoke to is allowed to apply his common sense in these kind situations, and make a judgement call at that moment on whether he let's the person with the dodgy ticket it - that's why he's a supervisor.

From reading your post I don't quite understand whether you called your supervisor everytime you let someone through, or instead possibly saw him apply judgement twice and from that point think you should let anyone who's picture didn't match in without caling your supervisor?

" i let them through anyway...i mean, if my supervisor is just going to let them through anyway then what's the point. " And what's all that about the asian girl lying to you - did you let her in even though you thought she was lying or call the supervisor??

The point of the picture is obviously to stop touting, which I understand the photo on ticket thing has been exceptionally effective at. Not to stop the use of common sense.

I personally thought he'd never get in but it made our festival that he did. At Glastonbury good things happen.

I think its very subjective. Your bound to get people like Redcan who work properly and check tickets and your going to get people who can't be arsed and just didn't want to pay. You also have to take into account how long people have been there, if they are coming to the end of a shift I doubt that they will be concerned who is on the ticket. Personally I felt my ticket was checked properly (it was my photo on the ticket) but this might have been because I was carrying two chairs, two tents and a rucksack. The guy may have seen me and conciously or sub-conciously decided that it wasn't worht that time and effort to make me get my ID out.

I would still say don't use someones ticket because if you do get turned away you could be hundreds of miles from home and not be able to get back.

Two female friends went onsite for Saturday night gratis helped by on-site worker

Next door neighbour had two days there without parting with penny helped by on-site worker

A large number of people from Liverpool down local pub the night before (Tuesday) with no tickets confident they would be able to get in.

Makes you wonder how many people on site actually pay a fare!
