Wellies!

I'm planning on painting my wellington boots in anticipation for Glastonbury. I've done a bit of research and have found that nobody can decide on the best type of paint to make your wellington based dreams come true.

Has anyone painted their wellies before? What did you use and did it work?

You need acrylic paint- available from hobby and craft shops in an array of colours. Leave plenty of time for it to dry- a couple of days is more than enough.

Despite what I've read on here, no sealer or varnish is necessary- I ruined my wellies doing this.

the only things that works that nobody seems to have mentioned (i, too, researched this on google a while back) is PERMANENT MARKERS!

i got boring green wellies for leeds last year and drew a little design on them with my black marker - when we got to leeds the mud was AWFUL. nearly knee high and that horrid sticky stuff that you get stuck in constantly. because of this, i wore the wellies all weekend, got stuck many times and had to yank them out of quagmires, etc.

the last day i got the coach and left them behind in a field (was very glad to see trainers) and the design i drew was still perfect underneath the mud!

what colour are your wellies? if they're dark then you may not be able to see if you use permanant makers mind, i had green wellies and could only use black really. unless you can get some of those permanant metallic ones but i couldn't vouch for their durability...

I just spashed out and bought me a pair of hunter festivals this year instead...now i have good quality wellies, the weather is guaranteed to be good!

I have a good pair....unfortunately they don't go far enough up my leg for me to want to wear them.

I just have visions of being covered in mud...oh, wait. Yep its happened in the past! 2005! oh, and 2007!

fur them instead, but dont use superglue.

im goin for turquoise n canary yellow this year! prolly gonna get hunters aswell but much prefer furring up.

If the mud is deep enough to go over the height of my walking boots, I will switch to wellies. Same if there is standing water. Hassle free walking then.
