Interesting read this. FWIW, I do 20,000 miles per annum and went EV in Jan this year. I'lll be driving from Huddersfield to Glasto in my Tesla this June. My house is too old have a home charge box fitted, but;
- I'm leasing the car on a salary sacrifice scheme, which also gave me a £500 credit on their charging app (Octopus EV);
- Tesla's public supercharger network is excellent and relatively cheap (35p - 50p per kW, which means about 8p - 12p per mile);
- Head office - which I visit twice a week - has free to use 7kW chargers in the car park.
Even in cold weather it will do 325 miles on a full charge and will charge from 20% to 80% in about 20 minutes at a supercharger. I've absolutely no regrets making the switch, however colleagues who've joined the EV scheme via work and not gone for a Tesla seem less enamoured. Their charging network makes them the obvious choice for me.

Is it possible that Chaka's been booked as 2025's legend? If she's touring that far ahead, of course
I'm fairly convinced this year will be my last Glasto, but if I don't go in 2025 and Chaka is the Legend I'll be f**king furious with myself!

Seems like she thought she was worthy of the legend slot, they had already booked Shania so Chaka then said thanks but no thanks to another slot, hoping she gets the legend slot in the next few years
Completely plausible. But if this is the case, then that's a booking calamity if there ever was. Chaka > Shania by miles.

Attendees under 25 don’t make up that much of the Glastonbury crowd anymore.
Not so sure. Most festivals I've attended have been a real mix of people from pretty much any perspective, age included. However the last 2 seem to have been overwhelmingly large groups of people I would describe as "young", i.e. probably under 30. And the amount of coked up young lads walking round with their top off barging through crowds was off the scale last year.

Based entirely on the evidence of my own observation (some might say imagination) it feels like the number of people getting in without a ticket has been steadily rising in recent years.
I thought that last year. Seemed to see quite a few people with blatantly no wristband on and don't recall noticing it at previous festivals.
I'd never have the brass balls to attempt it to be honest, especially with a 4hr+ drive each way to get to the site.

Seeing Cassyette at the Leadmill in Sheffield on Monday. Really excited as I missed her at G last year due to clashes.

Had Olivia Dean on shuffle whilst WFH this morning. Very chilled but with a groove to it. Impressed. Would be great for a sunny afternoon.

I talked to the guy building stuff for Williams Green last year and there was supposed to be a stage but they ran out of time to build it.
In CarHenge or separate from it?

There has to be more to it than that. As @incident says, the timing actually would make it seem more likely if anything.

Thanks for the positivity gang. It’s one of the reasons I love it here.
@StoneCircle Hillsborough originally, but had grandparents in High Green, so know it well. #WAWAW 😜

Never stumbled across this thread before, but wish I had.
I've had depression my whole life and spent many years drowning the negative thoughts with alcohol and playing at being a "normal" citizen. My first Glasto changed my life as it opened my eyes to so many things, but also showed me that humanity and society could be inclusive, supportive and differences were to be celebrated. In 2013 I split with my wife of 10 years, with whom I have 2 kids and the event triggered me. I hated being on my own away from the kids and after 6 weeks attempted suicide. Luckily, I failed. I got some therapy and support and have been largely OK every since.
At G last year, I had an altercation with a coked up selfish w*nker and went to throw a punch. Luckily, my group stopped me and his stopped him. That night I went very dark. By the end of July I was still in a bad place and blaming myself, feeling guilt, shame, self loathing and work pressure was ramping up. My mind broke. My wife had to stop me slashing my wrist. I went back into therapy, on to antidepressants and had 10 weeks off work. I'm lucky. My family, friends and employer were nothing but understanding and helpful. I now feel like myself again.
I'm a little concerned about this year's festival and for a while considered not going, given what happened last year. There was so much inconsiderate behaviour, open cocaine use and (to me) tension in crowds that I'd never really felt before. The flashpoint when I lost it was by no means the only incident of pushy (coked up) selfishness I'd experienced that weekend, which felt a million miles from previous festivals. Maybe I was already in a downward spiral, but I still have a degree of nervousness about this year. Luckily, I've had a refresher in coping techniques.
Per the YouTube clip above, I think most of the attendees will have some demons. I'm 49 so struggle a little bit with being open about this IRL as my upbringing was very 70's/80's. All I will say is get help if you need it.
I've decided this year that if the "vibe" of the festival is more 2023 and less 2019/previous and there are selfish, pushy w*nkers and blatant coke-heads everywhere then this will be my last. For my own good.

Hiw are we all doing on this. I've listened to all I didnt know a bit now. I'm ready for another bulk lot to crack on with lol.
Blondshell I think are my favourite new finding
I usually get 2/3 acts that I like that I didn't know every fest from checking out the line up. So far I have Heilung & Black Pumas from the little we already know who are must sees. When the full list drops I reckon they'll be another 2/3 at least. Given there's not much at the top of the bill for me this year I'm really excited about a year of discovering stuff and hitting the smaller venues.

Friday headliner would work best for me, I don’t have one yet 👍
Same. Frank & The Sleeping Souls are one of the hardest working live bands out there. Always a great night.

Any ideas on how I can add it? Accessed my booking on seetickets and I can't see an option. If there isn't an easy way, I'll email them to see if they can do it. Cheers
They can be bought on the gate for an extra £5 IIRC. So take an extra £60 in cash and you're golden.

12 weeks just lit a fire under me too, just not until I’m back home from this all inclusive on Monday. The more weight I gain the quicker you lose it, right?
That's science. FACT. 😉

I guess they are both examples of acts that would be willing to do the festival if they were offered an appropriate slot. However I would suggest that they aren’t going to do it for a fraction of their usual fee in a slot they view as too small.
The Glastonbury seemed to have moved on and those acts that appeal most to 35-50 year olds don’t appear to be a priority. Probably the right thing to do for the festival’s longevity but rather brave when you look at the demographics of the punters. This is why I suspect that one of Avalon, Glade or West Holts will be the first to be announced; possibly while the balance window is open if numbers are looking a bit low….
You've seen the rest of the line up right? And last year's? And every prior year's? Not sure this stacks up.......

Yep, makes sense to me. Get balances paid then we're at the business end of the run-in, with an area poster each week on average. The exciting part.
In only 12 weeks, you'll all be flowing through those giant green gates. 12 weeks!!!
12 Weeks! I'd better start trying to lose my winter fat stores and up my fitness then!

Does anyone know if the parking passes sell out quick this week? Or is there usually plenty?
You'll be able to get them on the gate. They never sell out.
-
I reckon all the complainants will cough up anyway. There was lots of moaning last year to be fair and some people suggested a name drop/area drop before the window closed might encourage punters to pay the balance. In the end - not needed.
-
Eventim are a huge, wealthy and quite slick business. I'd see this as a positive for See's capabilities rather than anything else.
-
I think the individual stage posters will start some time next week after the balance window closes. If I had to guess, I'd go 12th April.

Welcome! Be ready to have your mind blown. I wish I could rinse my brain and have my first Glasto again with no memories. It changed me. It will probably change you too. Enjoy!
