  1. Yes. Twice. Their live show is an hour of 'ad lib' noisy techno. They stand opposite one another on either side of their set-up desk and build tracks from 'scratch' - obviously there will be some structure, but they like to be as spontaneous as possible. One of them uses a mic to add heavily treated 'vocals' into the tracks at times. It's banging. They're incredibly into what they do and create a fantastic energy. And, knob twiddling art notwithstanding, they really rave it up, so it's a proper techno rave feel. I loved both sets when I saw them, the first time opening for British Murder Boys, so that was a far from shabby night! Ben
  2. Comfortably, my favourite find from the Silver Hayes poster so far is Sofia Kourtesis. I'd been aware of her before but didn't know much about her. I dearly hope that her live set is given a cracking slot that fits with the rest of my plans. Could be pretty magnificent if her recorded material is anything to go by. Really interesting and different house/occasionally deep house that 'does' so much more than a lot of generic dance music produced these days. Very excited for her. Ben
  3. Hey, don't worry about it. It's great that the thread caters for everyone, no matter what their dance predilections. I walked past an Artwork boat party in Silver Hayes one year, sunshine blazing, mirror shades ahoy, taps aff, and that couldn't be further from what dancing is for me! But everyone was having a brilliant time and there are many on here who would be all over that. All I ask for is that there's kindness and respect in here, and a space for everyone to share their love of dance music. Gods know there's enough agg in the rest of the forum. Rave on, team. Ben x
  4. Fair point. Well, I've seen Overmono live (and may again in Silver Hayes), so seeing them DJ super-late would be fantastic. Ben
  5. As said, out of upvotes, but YES! The live on IICON dream is still on. Ben
  6. Out of upvotes, but OMG, that was just spectacular. Ben x
  7. Do love a bit of Hawtin. Saw him at Club Paradiso on Mykonos (clang) a few years ago. Stellar. Ben
  8. Indeed you were and it was a pleasure sharing the floor with you. I'm really hoping we can manage some get togethers from those on the thread. Ben
  9. Neither should we get into that! Techno is a broad church, and all the better for it* Ben *but tech house is tech house 😉
  10. I'd have been very surprised for someone like Nina K to be announced for SH. Unless there was a big sea change, that's just not the vibe in there. Yes, HAAi is playing, but I bet you her set there contains little/no techno. And this from the DJ who gave us, IMO, the set of the festival last time, and one of my favourite sets ever. Ben
  11. Awww, come on Adam - we've not been short of techno of late. 2019 amongst others gave us: Randomer Partok Josh Wink HAAi Anthony Parasole Karenn Freakenstien Zenkers Stenny Charlotte de W Daniel Avery And that's just a selection! I worry every year that there will be enough techno/electro/psytrance for me, and then when it all drops I have hard clash decisions to make! Ben
  12. Silver Hayes is always light on techno! And the Beat Hotel possibly as much, if not more so. I never see them as catering for that scene, other than a few sets per festival. And that's a good thing. As @Supernintendo Chalmers says, IICON and Genosys are your major techno hitters, along with Arcadia usually for one night, and a smattering elsewhere - Spaceport and Glade can throw up some crackers. Dubfire's Hybrid Live show a few years ago in Glade was ace. So, for me, it's good that SH has it's own vibe. The fact that it has so much daytime partying would jar if followed by lots of full-on techno. Ben
  13. However it's reconfigured, I definitely want a venue in that same place. It was never my natural home, but I bloody loved walking past the BH on my way to/from JPT, with the plinth outside rammed with ravers. A unique venue at Glastonbury (I guess you could say that about many/most, but you know what I mean...). Ben
  14. Yeah, totally agree. For example, Palms b2b Jobse has Beat Hotel written all over it! I hope the (new) BH drop is separate - yet another line-up to pore over...! Ben
  15. Almost certainly the most exciting name to drop on the SH poster for me. And can we clarify the Richard Fearless/DiV rumour? I see he's said 'See you there', but surely he'd have been on the poster if he's booked proper, no? Ben
  16. For goodness sake! I turn my back for 5 minutes and you kids run bloody riot! Well, we've begun, eh, team? Silver Hayes is always the dance area drop likely to offer the least for me, but there's no doubt on the quality of that line-up. Absolutely packed with big-hitters and almost certainly the 'biggest' name line-up I've seen for SH. Personal highlights are: Avalon Batu Call Super Gabriels Giant Swan HAAi Leon V Overmono Sofia Kourtesis Remind me, do we think any of these are playing the Beat Hotel replacement, or is their drop entirely different - I think it's the latter. If that's the case, I am massively intrigued as to where some of these artists will play and, as significantly, at what time. The enormously stacked line-up seems to suggest that there'll be some of the huge names playing in the middle of the day. That would also suggest that the sets they would play will be 'daytime' party sets too. Going to be very interesting when the full line-up comes out. For me, I'm pretty uniform in my daily model (No?! I hear you cry...), of bands from when the stages open until after headliners, and all my dancing at night - unless there's no headliner for me or a non-negotiable like Jopkins' extraordinary DJ set on the Spider. But if nothing else, this drop gives an indication of the level of indescribable riches still to come. And, @Supernintendo Chalmers, it's not just Shangri-La as one of the areas still to come, but the whole of the SEC with it! Gonna. Be. Epic. Ben
  17. The idea that Dettmann and Stingray playing together couldn't get a crowd up for it...?! To me that's the crowd! They're probably there either just to be there and/or to take a shit-ton of drugs and tell people they've seen [enter overrated massive name here]. I'd have given a limb to see that set! Ben
  18. Last time they played, in Wow, on...Thursday...?...it was ridiculous. Genuinely impossible to move/dance at all in the tent as it was like sardines with some extra sardines shoved in the tin. Admittedly that was 2015, I think, and before the considerable expansion of late night venues around the site. Ben
  19. That run of sets is F A N T A S T I C. I suspect that you and I will be on the same dancefloors a lot in June... Ben
  20. The total fees bill for that line-up must have been huge, with a lot of massive names in there. Who did you see? Who was good? Tell me you went to see Ben Sims. Or if you didn't just lie to me. Ben UFO x Helena Hauff? Stingray x Dettmann? I should coco... Ben
  21. Essentially what @stuie said - the reason that the U-turn accusation is so deserved for this clown and his shower of sycophantic incompetents is that they only reverse their disgraceful policy decisions when they realise that literally no-one will allow them to fly, they were a fucking shambles in the first place and they're trying to employ damage limitation. You're completely correct that if we are unable to change our minds about things then we are doomed. That essential human trait doesn't really apply to this bunch of charlatans who have, perhaps forever, tainted public office beyond all recognition. Ben
  22. Why didn't you tell me you were going?! I'd have dragged you round five spectacular sets! Ben
  23. This recent season's slightly revamped Archive at WHP was great too. Sound massively improved on pre-pandemic seasons. The depot can be great, but you need the right artist, time of night and crowd all to gel. Jeff Mills in November in the Depot was a really amazing vibe. Ben
