  8. Hopefully solid rumours and maybe even announcements for the 2022 festival will start to distract us but in the meantime here is the Hurt/Heal for the next three stages all bundled into one mega game. I've started from 2005 when The New Band tent became the John Peel stage and listed all acts across the 3 stages, I've ordered the acts by stage with acts who've appeared on more than one being listed on the one they first appeared on. (Hot Chip are the only act to have headlined all 3) Will Jake Bugg get knocked out straight away twice in a row? Will Al Doyle manage back to back wins? There's only one way to find out but before we begin I'll copy paste Hugh Jass's rules: "Rules: I see people saying "I'd love to play this but don't know how" well read below and you'll see. Each act starts on 50 points. All posters have 10 points to use each day, you can either add points to acts or deducts points. You can give or take all 10 to one or parcel them out between a few acts, it's up to you. Once an act drops to 0 they're out and need to be removed by the next poster along. Copy and paste the post above yours when you're adding to ensure the scores flow down properly. Clear? Right then let's go." My additional rules: If you see any mistakes feel free to fix them, preferably with a note explaining what you've done so others can follow. Please don't use multiple accounts, I'm not really sure how I'd police that but just please don't. This is going to take ages, longer than most people's attention span, so please don't ask for minus only days, or extra votes or anything else to speed it up it takes as long as it takes. This is already a monster post so I'll pop the list in the next one down.

    2022 Headliners

He'd never still associate himself with that name, erm:
  10. So how long a pause do people want before starting the ridiculous multi-stage next step?
  11. Look if you strain your knee and have to miss out that is obviously a disaster for you but I don't think it's a big enough deal to cancel the whole thing.
  12. Mogwai's recovery from 30 points is impressive and then Christine and the Queens drop even lower before turning it around and taking the lead. Everyone else when they start to fall they just die.
  13. You wanted a hit? But maybe we don't do hits.
  14. Can you please but your vote back the way it was when mattiloy voted. You've changed the way you voted and so that would lead to a change in result.
  15. Yeah, you can double check the maths as I wouldn't be surprised if I'd made a mistake with all the simultaneous posting but I think it's all over.
  16. This wins it. Prodigy 0 LCD Soundsystem 9
  17. The Prodigy 5 LCD Soundsystem 17
  18. Whilst I find Jess Phillips a bit much at times on this she is right Bowie played in the year 2000 so he played last millennium. https://www.britannica.com/science/millennium-time-period
  19. The Prodigy 100 (-10) LCD Soundsystem 100

    Billie Eilish

Obviously every act's career follows a different path, but if you are complaining about everyone showing you solo female pop singer career paths that don't lead to the pointy one despite world conquering ubiquity in their prime so I offer you a different kind of example. The point being despite her current success and the potential for future success neither of those things are guarantees of the particular achievement of closing the Pyramid Stage. That is not to knock her, even if Album 2 has tickled my fancy less than Album 1 as a middle aged dad I'm not her target demographic, it is just to say that it is still very much a question of "if" rather than "when" she will headline Glastonbury.

    Billie Eilish

The thing is there is a limited window when a hot new act look like a headliner, if you are booking Billie for 2022 or 2023 she probably headlines, but if you or she has other plans then things might change. Stormzy and Mumford where booked in that window but not everyone is. If you want a not just because she's female comparison take The Strokes, their first album changed the music scene but they never quite reached those heights again have been a headline or nothing band in their prime but didn't headline Glastonbury. They are now still a big act and they still headline festivals but they aren't what they were, they have played lower slots and smaller festivals and Glastonbury just isn't that fussed by them.
  22. The Prodigy 140 LCD Soundsystem 130 (+10)
  23. As I mentioned in the last thread I think we can keep going with Hurt/Heal to keep us distracted with no festival this year. The Other Stage is were I've headed, it's certainly a weaker selection than the Pyramid but there's plenty of quality in amoungst the Jake Buggs and Razorlights and Panics! At Disco so should be fine. I've taken every headliner since the stage was renamed in 97. Here's Hugh Jass's rules from the previous thread. "Rules: I see people saying "I'd love to play this but don't know how" well read below and you'll see. If anyone spots any errors please don't try and correct them yourselves, let me know and I'll fix it. It's much easier to have one person managing the scores than everyone trying to do it at once. Clear? Right then let's go." The only change I'd say is feel free to fix mistakes as you see them, just explain in your post what you are doing so it can be easily assessed. Don't @me unless things have really got confusing don't tag @Hugh Jass either he doesn't want to be in charge more frequently than once a year. Clear again? Let's go for real this time. Reef 50 Kula Shaker 50 The Bluetones 50 Embrace 50 Underworld 50 Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros 50 Paul Oakenfold 50 Mogwai 50 Nine Inch Nails 50 Leftfield 50 Basement Jaxx 50 Garbage 50 Orbital 50 Air 50 Primal Scream 50 Super Furry Animals 50 Doves 50 The Chemical Brothers 50 Fatboy Slim 50 Razorlight 50 Ian Brown 50 Bjork 50 Iggy & The Stooges 50 Panic! Shameless Rip-offs

So after enjoying Babymetal at Glastonbury I've been chatting to a mate at work who is into a wider range of alternative idol groups. I was introduced to There There Theres who are a much dancier affair, but their track Sunrise=Sunset is remarkable. It's such a blatant copy of Born Slippy it's ridiculous. So what are the worst examples of bands ripping off others' works?
  25. Shangri-La have just posted that they've booked Henge on Facebook.
