My overriding memory of last years Bestival was all the bloody kids pissing people off filling balloons with N2O during bands they weren't really watching. The constant pssssssssssssstttttttt noise every other minute was really annoying!

Quite a coup for Bestival and personally makes my decision not to see him but instead see Orbital at Glastonbury all the better.
That said there are a good few acts I would miss him for again, I must remember to look up a set list for his Glastonbury performance as I would presume he would do something similar.
Thinking about it I could see him and then Orbital if I so wished

I have just received an email from Rockness if I fill in a questionnaire I may win £100 of beer tokens for the festival. I thought Rockness had no truck with the evil that is beer tokens and it was cash at the bar.
ARRGGHHHHHHHHHH
Of course if I win 100 of the feckers then I will love them

I really bloody want Moby, if he's announced I'll scream.

Sooo.... nobody has been previously and can tell me if its any good as a festival?
On the same thinking as other people that the Hot Chip day looks good and is great value for money!

I left my house in Essex at 15.30 the Thursday was on the 16:30 London Waterloo which pulled into Portsmouth Harbour at 18:09 then the 18.15 to Ryde which arrived at 18.30. Then a local "cab" dropped me to the site in 20 minutes, 15 -20 minute queue to get in my tent must have been up by 20.00.
Similar story in 2009 although I went Friday morning so that was really easy.

Bestival total no brainer.
You ask for big bands which immediately restricts you to big festivals, Bestival is quite big about 60,000 people I believe. It also deliverers on all your other points, in fact last year you could carry your alcohol wherever you liked, on the presumption you had the wit to put it in your bag.

It certainly would please a lot of people if he were to play me included, I saw him at LED in 2010 and during his set Die Antwoord came on stage wearing big pink bunny costumes, at least I think that is what happened and I am almost 100% sure I was not on acid on this occasion.
Great set though bunnies or not

There's also The Big Top, the Psychedelic Worm, the Black Dahlia Tent, the Sailor Jerry's stage, Red Bull Academy, Bollywood, Roller Disco, Ambient Forest, Bandstand, Swamp Shack, Cabaret tent... few others too.
Florence can be ignored and overall she's not that important to the grand scheme of things.

I think I mentioned this somewhere earlier on this thread, but I have just double checked and every year since Bestival started the headlines have always included at least one dance act:
2004
The Bees
Basement Jaxx
Zero 7
2005
The Magic Numbers
Röyksopp
Super Furry Animals
2006
Gogol Bordello
Pet Shop Boys
Scissor Sisters
2007
The Chemical Brothers
Beastie Boys
Primal Scream
2008
My Bloody Valentine
Amy Winehouse
Underworld
2009
Massive Attack
Kraftwerk
Elbow
2010
Dizzee Rascal
The Flaming Lips
The Prodigy
2011
Pendulum
The Cure
Bjork
It maybe worth noting that:
Pendulum subbed in 2008 headlined in 2010
Chase & Status subbed in 2010 headline in 2012?
Failing that other dance acts big enough and have not headlined before, in no particular order:
Deadmau5
Moby
Leftfield
Depeche Mode
All a bit retro not that I would be complaining you understand, but with that in mind Deadmau5 would be the most likely.
-
On the presumption the Friday night headliner is a dance act then I think it will either be Deadmau5 or Chase and Status.
Personally I would really it be Chase and Status as I will see Deadmau5 at Rockness.

Tickets booked, ferry booked, time off work booked, weather - I have ordered glorious sunshine but not too hot. Hope everybody's OK with that.

The other festival I go to on public transport Bestival I take one of these:
Great bit of kit big pneumatic tyres and it folds up so you can put it behind the seat on the train. I actually bungee my rucksack to it and put a crate or two on the bottom then I only actually have to carry a small rucksack on my back.
This is another argument for the legalisation of recreational drugs, they hardly weigh anything

See you there on the Wednesday
-
As many boxes of Westons Organic Cider (7.3% abv) as I can reasonably be expected to carry and of course at least 4 litres of woo-woo, which for the non alcoholics amongst you consists of:
1 part vodka
1 part peach schnapps
2 parts cranberry juice
Trust me it tastes better than it sounds.
Also another crate of something yet to be decided for the Rockness express

Nice one! There should be an efest meet arranged nearer the time if you fancy popping along.
-
I too hope there are toliets aplenty, especially as I have just booked myself and my mate onboard.
Oh yes getting the party started early.
