Then again, that doesn't account for how many more might be interested in going if getting a ticket wasn't so difficult.

This is one of my problems with the suggestion of a ballot system, the way things are right now requires you to put a bit of effort into getting tickets, if it was just a case of say having a couple of weeks to enter your details into a ballot then is suspect the would be far people attempting to get tickets. This would make it harder to get tickets but also I think it may have an effect on the crowd in terms of a much higher proportion of who aren't into the music or the ethos of the festival trying to go just because it's seen as a cool thing to do.

  2. Didn't even get the holding page on laptop + wifi but managed to bag a ticket over 4g on my phone, definitely seem to have had more luck over mobile data the last few years but this could just be down to random chance

  3. Anyone with even a basic knowledge of social sciences would recognise those as an almost classic example of the boomerang effect, whereby the result of an intervention is actually the opposite of that intended.

If if people feel they're paying a £10 charge for cleaning up their rubbish they're more likly to leave it as they'll feel that they've paid to mitigate the negative effects of their actions.

I know Bruce doesn't like Glastonbury but i'd love to see Iron Maiden play

Unfortunately son of property developers, brother of professional show jumper, owner of aviation company and former public schoolboy Bruce finds the whole festival far too middle class for his simple working class sensibilities.

Hi Orgazoid - I think it depended on the band at the Park - agree the sound worked well for 'rockier' bands - I thought it was fine myself for Car Seat Headrest, Kurt Vile.  But for some of those bands with a more 'delicate' vocalist / sound it was a bit too dominant for me.  I could barely hear the vocals on some numbers

I was right on the barrier for Mercury Rev, it was so loud I had to fashion ear plugs from rizlas.

Can't believe you drink milk and contribute to the cruelty of the dairy industry. Do you know how many puss cells are in milk? Not your mum not your milk.

You are aware Michael Eavis is a dairy farmer aren't you?

Which reminds me...we were sitting round the big fire at Kelburn garden party last year having a late night blether with a group of young uns.

The wristbands are sort of foamy plasticy there and they had cut off their excess and used a lighter to melt the spare bits into 2 wristbands that there mates had been able to use to wander in for free.

Genius. Restored my faith in the youth :-)

True story, first year of the super fence, in a pub not far from the site on Wednesday afternoon. Guy asks to look at our wrist bands, we show him, he takes out a big pack of felt tips and attempts to produce a copy on the back of a cornflakes box.

You think that's bad? I was served prosecco in a fucking paper cup!!!!

F**KING HELL! I hope you've spent the last week sending death threats to the everyone involved in the festival.

I saw a bin in West Holts that had a pretty poor paint job. Ruined my festival. Not sure I I'll bother next year

I was served a macchiato  with slightly too much milk, I've written to the council asking them to revoke the festival's license.

WV bell tents are great, fully sealed ground sheet attached to the canvas walls. Unfortunately this year we stayed in in a Bell Tent at Tangerine Fields - the canvas was separate to rheumatoid ground sheet, will no seal whatsoever and was basically open. They had put a carpet over it however the tent was an open house for bugs and spiders! Poor quality tents at TF but but a better walk to the festival than from WV.

The groundsheets where made of inflamed painful muscle?

haha..... i like that , but honestly its not because i personally don't like that area.......if others love that particular area at glastonbury then fair play...... I've spent many hours round the dance village... i just don't think ts got the same vibe as the rest ov the festival? do you?

Depends what you mean by the same vibe, different areas of the festival all have different vibes but I have had some really enjoyable nights there where the crowds have been amongst the best I have ever experienced.

  12. The south east corner is what it is because there are only a handful of residents that live on the boarders of the site there, they all make pretty substantial amounts of money from the festival and so have an informal agreement with the Eavis' not to complain about the noise or object to licence outing the late night entertainment in that area.

    We were very lucky.

The rainbow we had over the site was due to the 25 mm of rain dumped in the next valley - and we got none of that.

Also, on the Friday two huge storms passed very close by and just missed the site so again very lucky.

Add to that the forecast of very heavy rain from Sunday afternoon and we really did get lucky.

It could have been so much worse and thankfully I remembered to cover myself in factor 30 every morning so have a nice suntan and no burnt bits.

We where very lucky. Wednesday and Thursday nights had huge thunderstorms that missed us by about 30 miles, and caused localised flossing in London.

  14. As stated I ran the query splitting days at 6am BST so the Friday total would have included the rain that fell in the early hours of Saturday morning. It started at 4:45 (I know this as I have a text from a friend still on my phone saying they where going to bed because it was raining). I left the venue I was in at about 5 and walked back in the rain and it seemed to have stopped by the time I went to sleep at 6:30

  15. Wellies all the way, feet where fine.  I was able to walk though the worst of the standing water without worrying and they're to easy to get on and off without getting mud (+cow shit and human piss) all over your fingers. This thread has just reminded me that trying to walk with about 4kg of thick clay stuck to each boot was exhausting and another reason I gave up on boots in favour of decent wellies.
