  1.  they started opening the car parks and campervan fields as a response to traffic issues on the Wednesday back in 2009 and all this did was mean the masses turned up earlier so pushing the opening even further forward will not solve traffic problems, IMO.

I think they need to change absolutely nothing.

The weather has been amazingly ridiculous and to leap and change heaps because of it is stupid and pointless.

No amount of extra walkways will solve the problems of mud and congestion - just ask the people who keep making the M25 bigger!

It was a series of weather events that made the problem nothing more nothing less and it will probably never happen again. Opening the site a day earlier will make no difference either as we will all simply turn up a day earlier.

It ain't broke so lets not try and fix it.

I think over time they need to (if it's viable, being a working farm I don't know?) increase the amount of paths made of stones/hardcore. These are easy to walk on regardless of mud. They are found around the main areas, such as the path leading from gate c pretty much to the pyramid, but not everywhere. The metal track is all very well but I'd imagine the cost would be quite a lot to increase there use all over and for every year it isn't a mud fest it would be an unnecessary cost.

it would take a long time but if they could gradually increase the infrastructure of these paths around the site it would make a big difference.

The hardcore paths are all mainly on land owned by the Eavis' where the metal trackways run tends to be on land that belongs to neighbors. The problem is they could double or even triple the width of all the paths and there would still be congestion when tens of thousands of people are heading in a similar direction.

It felt to me that there was slightly less litter overall this year than last year - I was litterpicking at John Peel again and there were fewer paper cups / cans / plates / plastic bottles to pick up than last year. Much less glass found too. I was pleased to see that The Wood didn't get trashed - there were a few cans and cups around the fire, but no litter chucked into the trees or anything which was great.

The only place that seemed worse was The Beat Hotel. It was a disgusting filthy carpet of NOS balloons and canisters on all four mornings.

We left the site at 4.30pm on Monday afternoon and there were A LOT of tents left in the fields we could see - way more than in previous years. I expect a few will go to places where they're desperately needed such as Calais, but sadly thousands will be landfilled. What a waste of precious resources!

Yes my impression was that there seemed to be less litter around the stages, but I'm not sure if this was because it had all been trampled in to the mud

Never once thought it was over crowded anywhere, I must have got lucky.

I thought it was mostly fine and I was in block 9 Friday and shangrila Saturday after headliners.

The only time issue I had was when I left the glade to go to the toilets along the railway track at about 12:30 as far as I could work out stewards had closed off access to shangrila and one of the access routes to Arcadia through penards this basically meant that everyone turned away from Arcadia was heading to the SE corner entrance along the railway track and everyone turned away from shangrila was heading in the opposite direction to try for Arcadia.

I wore wellies with gel insoles for the whole festival and came away unscathed. Seems like I have the only pair of wellies in the world that don't destroy your feet.

No I was fine in wellies all weekend too

Now if someone can invent boots that can get off without getting your hands (including fingernails) filthy, then I'm really interested!

    they're called wellies ;)

Stupid Royal Mail man wouldn't let us out of the pub! It's causing havoc with my anxiety. I'm sure I'll be fine when we get there I just hate doing nothing!

Everything will be fine, you'll be parked up soon, festival starts tomorrow and soon this will just be another 'remember that time' Glastonbury story :)

Walking boots more like....still don't for the life of me know why people wear wellys....so you get a bit of mud splashed on your legs that easily wipes off..better then ending up with a case of fungus  and blisters from trying to walk miles over a 5 day festival in sweaty non breathing rubber boots that really arent designed for such walking.

Walking boots being laced up tight always feel more secure as me.less likly to be pulled off by sticky goop and the soles are often gripper as well so less chance of falling over

I took wellys my first time in 2013 never wore them and never taken any sincein.... 2014/15 got by fine with boots despite the mud(esp in 14)

There's no right or wrong answer good wellies can be perfectly  comfortable, go to any rural area and you'll see loads of people who work on their feet 8hours a day every day wearing wellies.

the met office has rain all of wednesday and friday afternoons...? i hope they're wrong!

Read the details don't just look at the pictures.

60% chance of some light rain Wednesday between 5-7

40% chance of light showers Wednesday pm

40% chance of light showers Friday afternoon

  10. As the @parsonjack says you're like to end up a considerable distance form the gates of you drive in each day. There is a shuttle bus service from Glastonbury town (outside the town hall) that departs on the hour (there is info on the festival website). I'd suggest this would probably be easier that driving, I'm not sure what parking is like in Glastonbury town but you could either drive there from your friends house or I'm sure it wouldn't cost too much to get a cab.

Just watched the 6:30 evening weather on the BBC.

Didn't like the look of the rain which looks like it will pass over those who Q overnight on Tuesday

Met office suggesting this is just scattered showers, drizzly to light, with only 60% chance.

You hear about people being converts once they change from wellies to walking boots, but you never hear of people swapping the other way.

I've posted about doing just that a few times.
