Hasn't the JP tent got 6 of the flag/tent thingy's

No the design changed last year to one with 4 king poles. That image is from the old glasto map last year, they photoshopped the 2015 tent into its 2016 position.

Update to this post, with a graph for Big__Phil.  More red and green is better, presuming you don't want rain...

Compared to yesterday, with added graph

     Good work :)

Here's my effort, it uses an r script to extract and calculate the daily accumulated rainfall for each gfs ensemble member for the latest 4 runs and plot them on a chart.

    Rplot01.png

X axis is total accumulated daily rainfall in mm
    Y axis is the day/date

Each GFS ensemble member is represented by the points (dots  - different colours represent the 4 different runs in the last 24 hours), the lines are the linear trends.
The so the points represent the range of likely outcomes and the more tightly they are clustered (closer together) across the x axis the more confidence we have in the forecast.

    To summarise

Dry today and tomorrow, some rain Thursday but the later runs are predicting this to not be as bad as previously thought. Then Largely dry over Friday and the weekend

Into festival week forecasts are becoming progressively less certain Monday Tuesday and Wednesday of next week may see some rain but this is by non means guaranteed and shouldn't amount to much.

Very limited confidence for the main festival weekend most runs suggesting we shouldn't see more than a few mms of rain a day but with a small chance it could be worse.

  3. 1) I'm not sure but If his age is questionable he will need ID and I'd imagine it would need to be the original if document not a photocopy. The passport could be left at one of the property lock ups (for a small donation) where it will be total secure while you enjoy the festival.

2 no restrictions on leaving the site when you enter for the first time you are given a wristband, when you leave you are given a passout ticket and you will need to show both of these along with your original festival ticket for re entry.

3 a car park ticket is a sticker you put in your windscreen (top tip stick it to a piece of clear plastic and  sellotape it as they are a bugger to remove) you can come and go as many times as you want if you have the sticker displayed.

4 highly unlikely there will be any queues at that time.

5 unfortunately you wife will need to use the drop off point at the bath and west showground. this is just over a mile form the festival and there is a free shuttle bus from the bus station at gate A. The roads around the festival will be designed clearways during the festival, the site is massive and so trying to meet on local roads will be more hassle than using the drop off point.

    6. no experience myself but expect to que to get out of your leaving directly after the headliners finish.

I think it's to the left of the really long tent (with vertical stripes)  - I assume that tent is the bar in WH field?  Stage is hidden in the trees leftwards if that's right.

If so, is that the Avalon pube being built behind the long bar?

    ???

Erm, pretty sure this time last year we were all revelling in the fact the ground was dry and the forecasts were only showing a few showers here and there for the following weeks. And then....

There was a place opposite to the Gully in Silver Hayes a couple of years ago, not been back since so not sure if it was there last year.

It was next to the Glade (other stage side) last year

bungies seem to often work their way loose , so wanted to try something different this year but back to plan B .

Said it before on this thread, ratchet straps are better than bungees, they won't work loose, good ones will last years and won't add to unnecessary plastic waste

    Hi everyone!

I'm heading to my third Glastonbury, third time in a campervan, but first time trying to arrive with another van.

This is complicated by the fact that we are driving from Yorkshire, and they're coming from Essex. I'm aware from previous years that once you get relatively close to the site it all becomes a bit fiddly, so I'm trying to work out the best place for us to meet.

We would normally come down via Bristol, whereas I'd assume the Essex contingent will be going over via the M3.

Do you think we could meet in Shepton Mallet, or is that a bit too close to the site?

Sorry, I realise that is an incredibly specific enquiry and unlikely to help anyone else, but if anyone has an ideas, I'd be eternally grateful!

    Thanks

    Jonny

Sainsburys in Street, big car park about half way between the M5 and the festival tell the Essex lot to go via m4 > m5 it's much quicker than m3 way on festival days as the a303 will be slow.

I know, I only noticed this myself about 20 minutes ago.  I have prescription medicine to take in, but was also planning on taking other perfectly legitimate things (ranitidine for heartburn for example, and some paracetamols for the hangover).  I guess I can pick up at the on site pharmacies

Pretty sure otc medication in sealed blister packs will fine.

I doubt that they will confiscate mirrors etc. At the end of the day a tent peg could do as much if not more damage, and getting hold of sharps on site would be pretty easy if you were determined. I think they will be pragmatic at the end of the day but this extra scrutiny is the right thing to do.

Mirrors have always been confiscated not because of any potential to fashion them into weapons but because it's a working farm and they don't want broken glass in the fields.

Even though I understand the need for them to do something but this could turn into a farce.

What about razors, portable phone chargers, 1st aid kits, lighters, make up, contact lense solution bottles? Are they going to confiscate it all or nothing at all? Or will it just be C4 and ten inch blades they're going to ask questions about

Personally not a fan of arbitrary measures like this whatever the given circumstances.

It's not going to airline style restrictions large sharp knives guns and explosives is what they will be on the lookout for.

I make no guarantees about their effectiveness.  Only discussing with fellow partakers how we may still enjoy some alternative activities, as tent bags and sleeping bags will clearly be unravelled and opened. A few tubes of Pringles may not be.

Yes but they are well known to those who know what they're looking for. There are far better and les obvious places to stash small items than these.

I'm completely fine with this. I really don't mind having to wait a bit longer to get in so we're all kept safe.

I do have one question: it says 'please do not wrap your bags / kit in the thick plastic wrap you sometimes see at airports. Your bags will need to be accessible for searches.' I'm guessing that includes fixing stuff to trolleys with pallet wrap? I usually attach things to my trolley this way but if we're unable to this year I'll just load up on bungee straps.

    Ratchet straps > bungees
