We left Glastonbury about 5:20, took a few minutes to get to this spot and have not moved since.

Hey Charm, have you moved at all? Hope you don't mind but your now my gauge for how the traffic is flowing

We were due to set off at 8 but reconsidering now, coming from Bristol, looking to get to orange, do we head GFL advice and wait or crack on?!

I exact same situation. I have the urge to crack on but somethings telling me it's a bad idea.

Thanks so much. How long has it taken you to get there? When did you hit traffic? - just trying to get a feel. Thanks again and keep the faith , we'll all get there!

Which bit of the a361 on you on charm?

Yeah will really help me make the call please. I'm all ready to set off from my overnight in Glastonbury, my heart says set off now but my brain is saying NO wait until much later!

  5. Yep. In Glasto town and its peeing it down. This is going to be possibly the worst ever year for getting people on site. At only 530am traffic backed through Glastonbury and pretty stationary, it's only gonna get a lot worse. I'd put off travelling down until tomorrow or maybe even Friday based in current situation.

Crazy traffic jam on the A361 coming from Glastonbury, avoid it if you can, haven't moved for ages.

Am staying in Glastonbury and was just about to leave but looking at Google maps it looks like it's almost backed up through the town itself - that'll take hours to clear and only get worse. May put off trip down the road to Pilton to much later or even tomorrow.

  7. You know what, after the last 36 hours or so of panic, I'm now resigned that what will be will be. Mentally I am now prepared for total mud-shitsville-armageddon anything else will be a nice surprise. I'll be still glued to this thread though! :D

Jesus Christ this is bad. Place is flooded already. Loads of rain due and they have to tow in the guys with the stalls because the ground is so fucked.

You know I'm coming round to your thinking. Everything is lined up for a totally horrific volume of mud.

Ok, not so good. Due to today's weather,  it looks like almost all of the water had very slowly sunk into the ground rather than evaporating.  much more on top of this won't bode well.

The vast majority of crews are now running late.

All stallholders are to be towed into place tomorrow, to prevent bogged down vehicle logjams.

Hoards of giant tractors arrived today.

    Not enough crew showers.

    Exhausted.

Mmm. Not good. Thanks to everyone working in these conditions to build it all for us, just a shame we'll all trash the site when we turn up with 100,000's feet tearing up waterlogged ground.

sont pay too much attention to the 12z gfs run its looks like a major outlier. UKMO (by far the best at predicting precipitation IMO) is showing currently showing the site escaping the worst of the band of rain on Sun/Mon, it's  still in for some heavy sustained downpours over Sunday into Monday but By current indications pilton will fare better than Wales and north western parts.

THat's better and it sounds as if you know what your talking about - i just look at the GFS and cycle through the precipitation. All doom & gloom me!!

  11. The latest GFS looks like a significant downgrade to me :(With lot more rain on wed and thurs with chance of showers through weekend. Hope I've interpreted it incorrectly....

What forecasts are you looking at, out of curiosity?  Apart from rain tomorrow night into Monday morning, I'm not seeing much...?

Was looking at the latest GFS charts, Ive no idea if Im interpreting them correctly tho'

  13. Yep, the latest charts seem to show again a fairly dry festival Fri - Sun with temps in 18-20. The only downer is that there is still quite a bit of rain through next week to the Thurs but they seem showery so with luck (and we'll need it) the site can miss the worst of those. Still all to play for but only a fool would go without wellies/good boots and a waterproof.

The last thing I want is a bad one, but my thoughts are this will be one of the bad years for mud.

The voice of reason I fear. There can be no way that further rain won't turn it into a muddy swamp.

So - we've dodged a bullet and no mistake.

Yes whatever is in store for us next week I don't think it will be anything like the last few days. In many respects we are very, very lucky.

Just seen this on Facebook: I hope for all you guys it dries up soon!!! Anyone on site is it this bad?

Joy. Though I'm not surprised by water or electric given the conditions they've been having to work in.

This is giving me '97 flashbacks.

As a fellow '97 survivor I understand but I actually think it's going to be 'OK' - wet and muddy yes but not at 97 or 07 levels.

GFS 12z was hot. Not an outlier as such, 30-40% went hot and the rest were cooler generally but decent weather. UKMO at +144 was warm looking.

    Waiting for the ECMWF now!

My thoughts are the same as this morning - Wednesday and Thursday look good with warm sunshine possible

Yep just had a look at the charts, I think it is improving. Certainly temps look better than yesterday, hot even, but there's still potential for a lot of rain Wed/Thurs.

Glastonbury shows on metcheck as baking hot with no rain whereas Shepton mallet is saying baking hot and pissing down! I know they are a few miles apart...but seriously!

Yes but still suggests a huge volume of rain in area Friday; but hey still a few days to go until we really need to start preparing for the apocalypse. I've got everything crossed.

He's definitely on a better place.  I don't like the real place.

There is a serious amount of rain on latest forecast, if that comes off the Friday would be horrific.

  21. Crikey this is all getting too much for me now. Whilst I'd take those high temps I just can't help thinking they'd be associated with thunderstorms. I'm obsessed.
