  1. Can anyone actually give a better example of a pop band in the last 10 years? If so I'm all years.

They wouldn't have to mime at all, they are all very good singers (say what you like about reality TV shows, they do at least ensure that the winners can sing live).

They also have the best writing team currently working in the industry and songs like "The Promise" stand up against some of the best pop songs ever written.

Can sing well live? - Check

    Great pop songs? - Check

Easy on the eye? - Check

If you don't like pop music then that's fine, but if you're going to be snobbish about pop music in general then there are much more worthy targets than Girls Aloud.

  2. +1 I don't know where the respect they command comes from, just because they are the 'best' from the worst genre out of there (possibly topped by donk or heavy metal) does not give the reality TV show, manufactured, generic excuse for a band carte blanche to play the greatest music festival in the world.
  3. Unf**kinbelievable, f**king scenesters without an ounce of musical history/knoweledge regarding Neil Young or IOW festival itself, that festival has always had a tradition of putting on legendary bands/artists so I dont know what those idiots were expecting from the headliners, they probably wanted MGMT or White Lies to headline LOL.

I went to IOW in 2004 when I was 22 just or the fact that The Who and David Bowie were playing and I actually thought the headliners for IOW this year were a bit poor till they announced Neil Young. As a rule I dont think people should be allowed to listen to indie/rock ect unless they can show respect for the history of the music and respect for the legendary artists who paved the way.

Like I said, f**kING UNEDUCATED SCENESTERS.

    RANT OVER LOL :(

  4. I have it on good authority from Neil Young's Management that he is playing Glastonbury on the Sunday. I work for the bank Neil uses for his European finances. They confirmed he was playing the Sunday (didn't mention if he was headlining) and also playing London on the Saturday (they just said London, didn't mention the HRC festival).
  5. get off your soapbox you sad pricks. have any of you actually seen green day live? im not a fan on record but they can put on one hell of a show, and act like theyre actually enjoying themselves! i'd much rather see them than some old w*nker like neil young
  6. while I agree with much of the other stuff you say, it's simply a fact that there used to be no commercial endorsements by the festival, and now there's some.

So while it's not gone anywhere near as far as other fests with its commercialisation, it is more commercial than it used to be.

  7. I turned down a Radiohead ticket when I was 17 because I was all about the ROCK and my then girlfriend wanted me to take her to see Scary Movie at the cinema

I was looking through the old Glasto lineups the other day, and say in 2007 I missed MIA!

Then I realised it was because I was watching Arcade Fire, and it was alright again

  8. Think of it like this way, V is like a restaurant where your gigantic main course gets brought out first but then you have to wait for an hour before you get your drink, let alone the entrees.

Glastonbury conversely brings every single thing on the menu to you all at once, and you sit there, eyes wide, thinking "How the f**k am I ever gonna eat all this?!"

  9. I'm usually against this kind of thing, but I might twitter (although I think the verb is tweet) Glastonbury. Would be amazing to just have a personal collection of memories I could revisit
