I've really invested a lot of time recently in skewered pop, sprawling noise and alt-indie - the genre may not always fit but it's something I'd love to see fill the smaller stages at Glasto in 2009. I'm talking about a lot of the critically acclaimed bands from last year and this upcoming one - HEALTH, Animal Collective, No Age, Deerhunter, Les Savy Fav, Telepathe, Amazing Baby, TV On The Radio, The Mae Shi, Dan Deacon, Wolf Parade to name some of the key players - and I was wondering how likely any of the aforementioned, or indeed others, might be on securing a slot on the line-up?
I remember Battles, The National and My Morning Jacket off the top of my head getting not inconsiderate slots in '08, if that's any indication?

Meh. It's not announced anywhere yet, but I'm pretty sure it will be soon enough (i.e. March, when the second wave of tickets go on-sale). The Strokes are headlining Reading/Leeds. Last time they headlined the main stage at Reading, we sang happy birthday to one of them (Julian, I think it was?), and then a cake was handed to the front row of the crowd, who devoured it. Happy times.
So, yeah, Strokes for Reading. They're more of a Reading band, tbh.

I had a coolbox full of ice and cans last year and mates just put them in the porch of their tent. Mine were cooler til about Friday when it evened out. Not worth the hassle.

that would be a dream come true!
anything Mike Patton has been involved in would garuntee me going along!
but to be honest i cannot see Patton agreeing to reform FNM with the current popularity and plethora of reforming bands i imagine he detests it.

I wouldn't say yeah yeah yeah's are too big, don't even they've played Brixton Academy on any of their tours (could be wrong on that though), unless they come back with a massive single I'd say they wouldn't get much of a shout at the main stage, maybe headline the john peel or 3rd or 4th from the top on the second stage......
