Awful line-up so far! Please tell me it's going to get better
Doesn't Michael Eavis know that not everyone who goes to Glastonbury is over 30!!!
And Franz Ferdinand, who actually likes them?
Someone please tell me the line-up is going to get better
-
Yep. That was the question on everyones' lips when i was at Glasto last year. "Did you see Leonard Cohen last night?", "Yeah, but i bloody wish they'd get Neil Young on that stage!!!". "How were the Kings of Leon?", "Kings of who? WE WANT NEIL!!!"
lol. That line tickled me for some reason. I know he has to promote his headliners but there's a fine line between doing it justice and looking silly.
-
I haven't heard anything from these guys. I'll listen to some of their stuff soon.
-
does no one else find that statement hilarious?
-
That doesn't mean i can't comment on a sub-standard "headliner" after i've paid for a very expensive ticket.
-
And Neil Young is more varied than these acts in some way? Or has he just toured less, and that's why you like him...? I just don't get it...
-
It seems to me that you're the type of person who gets bored of an act after 2 LP's.
-
Yep, i'm sure you're always falling to sleep in the middle of Foo Fighters concerts.
-
I don't believe anyone could think these three acts are boring either personally or musically.
-
This is a bit of a disappointment, actually. I was hoping for Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Morrissey - someone of high quality. Neil Young is a bit of a boring IMO. Shame.
-
They've been around a fair while, and you wouldn't find them in NME or Kerrang for that matter.
-
Sorry, I'm getting old. Remind me to buy a copy of the NME or something.

Mogwai have always been a band i've intended on getting into but never got round to it. Where's a good starting point with their recorded music?
-
Is "brand new" the name of a band, or have I just missed the point of this thread?
-
This has seriously pis*ed me off!!!

1: Animal Collective, I've seen them 8 times now and every time has been beyond incredible and completely different.
2: Conor Oberst solo at the London ULU in 2004, I think the only gig I've been to where the crowd were completely silent during the songs then erupted after them.
3: Joanna Newsom & the LSO at the Barbican in 2006, she managed to recreate Ys perfectly.. I didn't think that was possible!
Other amazing sets: My Bloody Valentine, !!!, Fugazi, Belle & Sebastian, Arcade Fire, Bjork, Explosions in the Sky, of Montreal, Sigur Ros, Clipse, Sufjan Stevens, ISIS, Wilco.

Just got an email from their Street Team confirming the following UK dates:
June 23 Manchester @ Academy (tickets)
June 24 Glasgow @ Barrowland (tickets)
June 26 Birmingham @ O2 Academy (tickets)
June 27 London @ Forum (tickets)
Seems like they're meant perfectly as extra shows to make coming over for Glasto worthwhile
Neil, is this just a huge disappointing coincidence or does it have some substance?

get in you beaut!!!
givememoney; check out the spotify thread; there's a good collection in robith's selection.

Absolutely fantastic stuff!
However, I'm thinking of all the other headliners I'm going to miss because of the line up of headliners is unreal and at the same time!
-
Was it inside or outside?
Slayer are much better inside. In fact most bands are.
-
Mogwai. Ear destroyingly epic
-
Really? I've seen them three times and they've never hugely impressed me. First time was at MOR 1991, supporting Acca Dacca, then at Wembley Arena on the Black tour and the last time was in the tent at Download.
Oddly the set-list each time was not that different. Maybe Fade to Black was dropped by the time I saw them in the tent.
No, for thrash metal, a Slayer Live gig is for me much more fun.
-
Shit yeah forgot about them, saw them at Rock am Ring last year, they made shit of the place.
LOUD LOUD LOUD Euro sound system!
-
Probably \M/etallica
I've seen Broken Social Scene 3 times and each time they've reduced me to tears of happiness
Arcade Fire in a church with them opening with Guns Of Brixton in the middle of the crowd
The Hold Steady left me grinning for about a week afterwards
Seeing Leonard Cohen with my girlfriend at Glastonbury and then at the o2 with my dad was brilliant. I hope I'm as nimble as him when I'm his age
Losing interest in the festival
