Such a shame that we don't have them. Would have been such an incredible headliner and so much stronger (and in many ways more to their "roots") than Blink-182 would have been. Wish they had announced their reunion sooner, or next year? ah well i'm sure they'll tour the UK eventually

When the Super Furrys headlined the tent in 1998, and they had speakers in each corner, so that it was in surround sound. That was pretty cool.
At the Drive-In in 2000.

Rage were far better in 1996.

I think they’ve been pretty average since Nick Oliveri left.
Whilst this will be certainly better than the ‘usual’ performance, no doubt we’ll still walk away to LCD Soundsystem [or the FR headliner] disappointed, and wishing he'd return.
(....and yes I know Oliveri didn’t play on the record)

I don’t agree with this at all.
If anything the festival has shifted even further away from where it should be, and even more mainstream. Despite all of you seeming trying to convince yourselves otherwise, Blink 182, Paramore, Limp Bizkit, etc are simply pop music, and shite pop music at that.
Personally I’d have loved it if they’d leaned more to 'ATP' type bands, than this.....

I think there’s way to much pop shit in there personally.
This isn’t ‘returning to the festival roots’ as somebody described it.
I also think anybody excited to see Gun n Roses, hasn’t witnessed the recent tours. .
There are too many repeat bookings.
I hope the NME stage improves in the second announcement.

If you’re going by the size of the fonts on the official site, there are a million combinations of the positions of the TBA’s.

but xfactor style bands also play oother cutting edge festival, like glastonbury for instance.
festivals have moved on my friend, they cater for everyone.

In the ‘old days’ we used to talk about credible acts, have high expectations – and now we just talk about shit like this all day…

I agree with the original poster, I’m unsure how they can justify that slot too.
Earlier this year, they were playing at one of the smaller academy venues, and were struggling to sell tickets.
They’re ‘good’ but they’re not amazing; personally after watching them play V so often, I’m not that bothered if I miss them.
Hopefully somebody better will be squeezed in above them.

they can put ndubs, cheryl cole and all that jazz on this year as there is so much good stuff in the lineup it wont matter a jot.

I’m still confused. I’m sure I read somewhere that there was one ‘big’ ATP stage band to be announced on Wednesday?, has this has been put back?, is this the ace?.
The Pet Shop Boys thing just is weird, and the justification sounds odd too. Sure they’d want to play!, they’re only on the 3rd stage at Vfestival!. Sunday still seems without headliner.
I hope they can find another ‘biggie’.

Jay Z, Beastie Boys, Bob Dylan were set to play but cancelled due to different reason (Beasties wont tour that early, Jay Z whines because of the indie line up).

And the fact that its one of the strongest line up's V's done in years. It will sell like hotcakes, come Friday I think both site gone in 2 hours [camping tickets]
TITP camping tix went in under a hour, double it [for both sites] think thats right
Kings of Leon sold what 65,000 for Hyde Park in a minute the other week? Its gunna be damn hard to get a ticket Friday
