  1. Has anybody ever seen the guy from Silent Bob, and the Royal Blood drummer in the same room. I thought aside from those similarities, I thought they were pretty good.

I thought that the bunch of people they got on stage for Metallica were very odd. Had any of them ever been to a concert before?, were they just randomly kidnapped from Tesco's?. They were seemingly a lot of (chubby?) middle aged women and some other weirdos, and a bunch of them didn't do anything except stand there. It didn't convey the average fan very well.

Who were the band that were stood outside the Lock up meeting fans on Sunday?.

Limp bizkit were great, except the random 'dance tracks' in between songs. That was like painfully watching your dad dancing at some family wedding.

Frank Carter really needs to end his set with Orchestra of Wolves. Fuck what the rest of Gallows think, they're shit now anyway.

Closing orange gate was a dick move. Evidently it was flooded. If only they had a suitable pump and a truck...... arseholes.

  2. Isn't the problem party down to the new booker, it seems to have noticeably gone down some other alternative route since he took over.

The old guy produced far better line-ups. You could almost guarantee that that years big reunions were going to be involved, and that it would be one of the best line-ups of the summer. For example L7 should have been at Reading this year, with their history at the festival it was a no brainer.

It just seems to be losing its way a little bit. I still think it should have gone down the route like Glastonbury that it should be a privilege to play one of the oldest festivals. But that ship sailed long ago. We're just another tour date on a list.

Some of the American festivals (and some Europeans) seem to be more inventive, with their bookings. They'd laugh at some of our placements - Jake Bugg, etc. Whilst I enjoy the 'up and coming' bands across the line-up. I can't help but wonder where actually some of the money is being spent, as these must be far cheaper.

  3. It’s odd how the lock up is generally the most talked about or anticipated stage on the forums. But so often nobody actually turns out. There was barely anybody there for Tomahawk or Quicksand, just like there was nobody there for the Descendents (and other examples) previously?. It seems some people talk a good game, but when push comes to shove they opt for more commercial music on the other stages.

  4. The NME stage is doing my head in too. How on earth is Azealia Banks second from top!. She’s more famous for her media profile (usually slagging off other people) than any actual physical output. In contrast to those at the top of the NME before her, she isn’t in their league.

Is the NME being watered down to pay for the expansion?, if this is the quality of the NME – what in fucks name are they going to put on the Festival Republic stage?.

Whilst the NIN booking is probably one of the highlights of an overall weak announcement, is anybody else a little bit sceptical about the timing. Why have a big worldwide ‘wave goodbye tour’ and then come back barely 4 years later?. What a complete bunch of cock. It’s no fault of Readings (although they could have laughed at the suggestion that they return) more of a reflection of NIN’s.

Overall, whilst I appreciate the new direction. The new booker hasn’t quite won me over yet.

  5. Oh.

Didn't go last year but just shows what the festival has become that the tent was empty. 90% of the people who went to the festival have probably never heard of them.

I just find all three headliners very predictable, all good, but some how together all a bit meh. The Cure would have been great, but I guess they are playing it safe. Also looks like a weak undercard, haven't heard anything about subs and Kaiser Chiefs playing third probably cost a tenner.

  6. Green Day, Kasabian and Foos would such a shit bunch of headliners, all of them are past their best and none were ever that good in the first place. Also, aren't Nickleback the exact same band as Foo Fighters? I can't tell the difference.

    We need The Cure.

  7. As much as I want to see them headline R/L, I'd rather watch them with a truly appreciative crowd, so Hop Farm or Latitude would be better in my opinion. I just have a strange feeling Melvin may have been after them for R/L, but we'll see I guess.
