Which page monitor did you use, and which page were you monitoring, because you have to put in your reg number to get into the page that list the tents.

I'm afraid my memory is not great and I've had a look, but don't have a record of how I was alerted.

Hopefully somebody will pop up who has faced the dilemma and is more sensible 😉

your guy has gone to help prop-up the new Murdoch, no one agrees with nick.

Ha ha my guy, thankfully that's as accurate as half the revisionist nonsense you spout about the benefits the country reaped from Thatcher.

I think that's rather fanciful to be honest. If people vote for who their favourite paper tells then to, then that's their problem and they deserve what thay get.

I think it was more due to people voting in line to how their parents votes. Thankfully, that's changed

You really think that 4 million people reading something every day presenting a certain view of the world doesn't have any impact on their perspective?

    Extraordinary.

The video is from a gig in South America. A load of nippers glued to their dog and bones.

So they don't have a vote then?

    Cheers!

What's the deal with entrance, if you don't come in a car to the dedicated car park - through the main site then into Sticklinch?

Yes, as I arrived on Coach I came through PG A and walked through the site, which was a decent distance carrying weight for my age and fitness, hence went to trouble to pack as light as possible - although was great for getting bearings about where it was and where things were (eg the co op etc and other things not too far away)

A few Sticklinch questions (apologies if I'm recycling stuff that has been asked previously):

    • Anyone done it? (the basic 'podpad' option). Worth it? It didn't look too far from where we camped last year, location wise
    • Is it a tall order getting one after the resale, assuming they go back on sale?
    • What do you get facilities wise, few showers & a food stall or two?

Yes, in 2022 (having done campervans or caravans for many years, but as my ticket was bought in the resale I was too late to rent a van).  I'm an old git and was going to be coming by coach and knew I couldn't carry my other stuff as well as a tent and something to kip on.

As @Mich1268 said I regularly visited to ensure I could get something.  So first up I paid for a bell tent in Sticklinch and then set myself a page monitor.  Thankfully during the day at work if it went off I could pop up the page and see what they had on offer, it did take a number of visits before I got myself a 4 person bunkpad (which I chose as that included bunkbeds, so all we needed to bring were sleeping bags).  The date I got one was Friday, April 22, 2022 1:30 PM

As for facilities - they had actual flushing toilets, with a queue system which was most of the time really well managed (someone standing by the front of the queue directing the next person when one was available), plus other folks who were checking they were OK and even cleaning or replenishing bog roll - honestly it was the nicest loos I've seen on the farm in nearly 40 years.  They also had quite a few showers - pretty busy at peak times, clearly many of the attendees are scrupulously clean these days, but later in the day would be easy to nip in.  They had a handful of food and drink stalls (but I believe less than WV), the ones that did a fancy coffee or more sophisticated breakfast had a bigger queue, but if you wanted a bacon butty and brew there was a very small queue.  No bar in Sticklinch, that year there was one in Carmageddon, so not sure how far it was to the nearest last year as that had gone.

My favourite thing about WG was their late night stuff. Deptford Soul, Motown etc. Good options that gave the night time slate a bit of variety. They should put that on Carhenge instead of the generic DJs they had any time I went past last year.

Good call, one of the things they could carry over to the same space and helps to retain some variety.

That Crowdfunder "great news!" email got the heart racing for a couple of seconds...

I was intrigued by the email too and I'm lucky enough to already have a ticket

    Ben

My pleasure, I was hoping that it may be of interest to someone more likely to have gone into a club in the last decade or two than me 😉

what I really want is to be searched going near a stage so I can't take my own booze whilst I watch the acts, and if I want a drink I need to buy one from a sponsored lounge.

Also we need a snus sponsor.

I only went to V once, after fifteen to twenty years of Glasto, knew the rules said no booze, but in my slightly worse for wear state (well it was early afternoon) I couldn't quite compute the person going to the trouble of searching me...and finding a plastic bottle up each sleeve.  They even sent me back as I was too worse for wear (which I naively thought was the point).  Thankfully poured away bottles, next gate let me in.   Didn't return to V.

Thanks. It was a big scare, but made sense of how 'not right' I'd been feeling. Now it's just a case of being aware of blood sugar levels and ensuring not to spike them too high or have them drop too low. Most things at the festival should be fine in moderation!

    I'm sure you'll have a fab time 😘

I'm going to be exercising some more moderation this year, first time for a while so will be interesting to mix it up slightly.  Tbh in my case each one could well be the last I get to, so having a more memorable experience would be good 😊

Seen a couple of early to mid-noughties favourites add shows at a local grassroots venue but tickets are over £30. I understand (and support the fact) that bands need paying but is this now the going rate for small local venues?

I'd suspect the increase is at least partially driven by venue costs, wages and energy?

Inflation has taken a toll on everything

Think it should be edited to say post 2000 because by the looks of it every tom, d*ck and harry were getting in without a ticket prior to the superfence!

I went to plenty before 2000 and never snuck in as such.  Had two I worked, then several I got in on free tickets (family member on Mendip District Council and the festival were savvy and said "come and see it for yourself"), then bought them usually from the shop in broadmead, but one notable time it sold out and I very cheekily phoned MEs brother (who I only knew very slightly), who walked me through on one of their villagers' tickets.

Really felt he had better things to do during the fest, so resolved to not be in that position again.

I nearly helped someone else, we hid him under a duvet in a vw camper a friend lent me.  As our first go in a van we foolishly didn't realise they didn't care about parking the van up, just when you came through the pede gates.  As he wondered what to do, someone moved the fence, security chased a runner and he strolled through with a dozen others...who all got in quicker than us ticket holders 😊

I just make sure my tent is so untidy nobody would even bother … in fact on occasion I’ve come back and thought I’ve been robbed only to find the missing bits when I pack up at the end

I think the only really valuable thing I've lost was many years ago and was some lovely smoking material that I enjoyed so much that I left it outside the tent 😄
