Gives you an idea on the depth of their catalogue when you consider how many out and out bangers they have that aren’t on the current set list. Looking forward to seeing Beaver O’Lindy and Bon Voyage live for the first time at the RAH on Monday. Disappointed that they’re out in the sticks on the Park Stage, but no longer an issue for me given I’m not going

  2. Sad news indeed, he was taken far too young.

One of the great bassists of the post-punk/indie scene, as evident on ‘Barbarism Begins at Home’, which I’ll be playing later.

I too loved The Smiths in my teens, I saw them 3 times - including their all-too brief performance on the farm.

    RIP

Only issues will be inevitable clashes and remembering; 1. that an act is on, 2. What time, 3. Where.

If only there was something to refer to to find the clashes

  4. We can’t realistically expect all musicians to be squeaky clean, and there’s a murky grey area in which lines of acceptability are drawn, but clearly what Slowthai has been charged with is off the scale. His career is fucked and any way back would only be via a ‘not guilty’ verdict months from now. Even then I suspect mud would stick

I wonder if they'll deem this to be too much, that it's actually going to court, albeit the whole innocent before proven guilty discussion.

I can't imagine for one minute that someone who has been charged with rape will be able to fulfil any outstanding gigs. I fully expect him to be dropped from Glasto, Blur support etc pronto. If I was on the bill with him I wouldn't want him around. Even if he isn't, I'd imagine the terms of any subsequent bail would prohibit such performances. Vile person

Not in the WG area, no. Whether there is something elsewhere I'm not sure. I do wonder how this is going to effect things on the Thursday, there are usually huge crowds at WG so this is only going to result in the other places that are already overcrowded on Thurs being even worse.

It'll be party central at Carhenge, looking at the cars on top of other cars

Think Other headliner/Pyramid sub is her ceiling unless she decides to move away from the sound she’s been perfecting for the past decade or so.

She’s done what many others (including Glasto headliners; Kendrick’s BST date in 2020 sold like very cold, stale cakes) have failed to do - sell out BST. I think she could argue that it puts her in that league now. Whether or not her catalogue is suited for it is another matter

  10. Was hoping to pick up (hopefully discounted) tickets for BST, but apparently it’s sold out, and without a supporting bill being announced. Wonder if this elevates her to the pot of potential future Pyramid headliners? I guess we’ll know depending on how these shows are received

9/25 in total, absolutely brutal. But we keep the group going for the general sale in October.
Thanks to all helpers who offered their help ♥️

Thanks for organising. I’m now looking at holidays to cheer me/us up ☹️

I’m already old but don’t sit around reminiscing, instead I embrace the way the festival has evolved over the years. Good old days can be overrated.  There’s many many Glastonburys still to come.

Exactly. This year will mark (gulp) 40 years since I first went. Whilst the festival has become a lot bigger since then, with a much higher profile and has become, yes, a major part of the social calendar, for me it still retains a lot of the atmosphere from my early days on the farm. I don't wish it was more like it was back then because I enjoy it more now than ever

Loads of times I been a fence jumper or found another way in.

The first year I went (1983), there wasn't much of a fence - and what there was didn't go around the whole site. So it was a case of climbing through a hedgerow. By 1989 there was a fence all around (probably about 10 feet tall). I got caught by security trying to climb over but ten notes was enough to see me over

$26 vodka red bull is about £21 at current exchange rates 😆 fuck my old boots, that’s ridiculous!

The problem for Brits going just about anywhere abroad is the fact that Sterling has been performing continuously poorly for the last 10-15 years or so. I can remember the pound being worth around two US dollars, now it's more or less like for like, rendering everything in the US 'expensive'
