This sounds like they won’t just pick which city you can try for but they’ll they’ll also pick which day of the sale for that city you can try on. Going to be a mess if they don’t make that clear when they send out the codes.

Life is so much simpler for Motley Crue fans

Agreed - I'd like the festival to do more Stormzy-style headline bookings.

Give at least one day to an up and coming British artist who's big but not Pyramid-big, and give them the chance to really use it as a platform to boost their standing.

    This year was too 'safe'.

Personally I don't agree with this. There's a natural order to things, and I don't see why one artist should get an artificial boost while the rest of their peers don't. You can give up and coming acts a boost by letting them perform at Glastonbury and let them work their way up (or indeed down) the bill depending on their appeal.

  3. I was so gutted not to be there for Reg this year, but at the end of the performance my FOMO had gone. The crowd looked like they were having the greatest time and I'd have loved to have been there, but objectively the performance wasn't a GOAT for me. I was underwhelmed by the guests and perplexed why Kiki Dee wasn't wheeled on for DGBMH. This was partly down to the hype (at least in part fed by Reg himself) leading up to it. It feels like the end of a Glasto era though; it's hard to think of anyone else of this generation that can feasibly headline (apart from getting the likes of Bruce on again)

Admit it…a reunion would be a great gig 😄 Probably big enough for the legends slot.

Not sure about the latter. How many hits did they have that everyone knows?

  5. For a couple of years in the 80's I was a Smiths fan, and saw them a few times. Rick Astley, however, stood for everything I hated about 80's music. I paid no attention last year to the Smiths gigs he did with Blossoms; it seemed like a bad idea that I didn't need in my life.

I watched the set this year on iPlayer after a friend recommended it, and was utterly blown away. Smiths songs being sung by a guy who obviously loves the catalogue and comes across so well, unlike the insufferable knob who originally sang these songs. And to be fair, the band ain't bad either. And it gives new life to these wonderful songs. I'd rather pay money to watch these than if the unlikely happened and what's left of The Smiths reunited.

The Hives, CRJ, The Last Dinner Party, The Murder Capital, Lizzo (was queueing for food), Editors.

This is what happens when you take children to Glastonbury.

Stil had a great time though.

    Yeah, how was Basil Brush?

Is there anyone left who could pull off a hit-packed set of that magnitude? Only band that springs to mind is Fleetwood Mac... but without Christie and Lindsey are they even really Fleetwood Mac anymore? Also not sure there would be the sense of occasion which definitely elevated the whole shebang.

There would have been a few years ago. I saw them at the O2 in 2015 when the whole Rumours line-up were touring. I was taken aback by how many young people were there, and singing along.

Since then Stevie has insisted that Lindsey was given the boot, John is apparently in poor health and unlikely to tour, and then the news of Christine’s passing. Where that leaves them I don’t know; my guess is that’s it. If not they’re approaching Trigger’s broom territory, and I can’t see them headlining Glasto soon.

I think there's a very good chance she will be one of the two female headliners. Probably going with either Dua Lipa (likely) or Taylor Swift (less likely) as the other.

For the life of me I can’t understand why some people think Taylor is a possibility for next year. Even though she’s technically available on the Sunday, given that she’s not doing festivals this tour, and a one-off Glasto would mean plenty of rehearsal for a show different to all the others on the tour, playing Dublin on the Friday and Saturday doesn’t suggest this is remotely likely. At best a special guest to someone else.

Was Britney ever actually at Bristol airport, or was that all complete BS?

The latter. I know people there and they would have known.

I feel really sorry for Kiki Dee not playing on their song for the last time. Hope there was a good reason she wasn’t there

Yeah just begging for disappointment really. I messaged somebody there about it possibly being Britney, Spice Girls, Harry and Eminem. f**k sake.

Think they’ve all been d@bbed down!

This is the thing I hear more than anything else. Where do you start? Maybe you're there with friends. You have "a spot". Move somewhere and block the view of others who have their spot. And wherever you move, unless you shove right down the front, this is your view for big acts now. The maths of everyone moving so they can see round the flags does not compute.

I have never watched an act that I literally can’t see because of the flags. Yes they get in the way a bit, but crowds move around a lot between acts and you can reposition if necessary.

The bottom line though is this. The flags have been evident in numbers for 15-20 years. Like them or not, the Eavii clearly recognise that they add to the spectacle and they’re here to stay. Personally, I’ve been going to the festival since long before they appeared, and I think they add to the atmosphere greatly.

Every year there’s a thread along these lines. You know what you’re in for when you are lucky enough to get a ticket for Glasto. What’s the point of going and moaning about the flags when you know before you go they’ll be there? It’s like going to Download and criticising it for being too loud.
