Who do people think would support Stevie Wonder if he is indeed playing? I was thinking either Nile Rodgers or Tom Jones would be a good fit, but not sure BST fits in with their other tour dates.

Lineup for this looks great. It’s such a dilemma — I’ve booked my hotel for the week before at Download, but feel so tempted to just cancel that and go IoW. They could do with adding a few more upcoming bands though. Though The K’s are a good choice.

Local news website reporting that an Ed Sheeran lookalike popped up at several locations in town towards the end of the week, asking what people thought to R1 Big Weekend being held in Luton. Make of that what you will!

So, as someone who hasn’t listened to Radio 1 for the last 10 years, I’ve been wondering, would there be a chance of any of the following appearing: Foo Fighters Green Day Liam Gallagher

Hotel in Derby booked. Not every day you get to see QOTSA headline Download, I’m sure it’ll be worth it! Though judging from what I’ve seen elsewhere, I might be the only one in the field watching them. Lots of people going to Busted instead 😐

Is it easy to get into Leicester or Nottingham via bus when the music ends? I’m going to book up a hotel for the Friday night, and although I intend to drive, feel I should go for somewhere I can get to by bus just in case. Leicester and Nottingham are, understandably I guess, cheaper than Derby from what I can see.

I suspect they’ll encourage attendees from out of town to get the train to Luton Airport Parkway, and then take shuttle buses up to Stockwood Park. It’s a bit of a walk from the town centre station, and mostly uphill. It’s easy to reach the park from the M1, though I wouldn’t think there would be much space for a car park once all the stages are set up.

Seems almost certain this is being held in Luton which, as a local, does surprise me. Great to have something coming to the town, but the R1 Weekend locations team clearly don’t watch 24 Hours in Police Custody! 😅

How soon are the other gigs usually announced? Was hoping for AC/DC to tick off the bucket list, but Stevie Wonder would do!

If it was AC/DC, could it be two nights? Demand for tickets would be huge?

Is there a possibility that The Offspring could play the QOTSA day? Offspring were the band that got me into guitar music as a kid, would be awesome if I get a day ticket and could see them too.

Think first poster was on about the song Avon 🙂 I couldn’t decide whether to go to this leg of the tour as I went to Margate in June which was awesome, and didn’t want to feel disappointed. Sounds like Josh has still been in top form though, and set lists have looked great, so I have some regrets. But I’m definitely going to get a day ticket for Download! I’m admittedly a little biased, but I’m sure they’ll be fantastic as headliners. Will they definitely be the Friday?

Are QOTSA definitely expected at this? I was holding out hope they’d do a headline park gig like in 2018, but might have to get a Download day ticket!

Any chance either AC/DC or the Stones could do this? Know the Stones did it in 2022, but they won’t be around forever… Would love to say I’ve seen one of them!

I was so tempted to go to this with the line-up, but as I’d have had to have gone alone + weather forecast, decided not to. When people say half the crowd is ‘older’, would I feel out of place in my early 30s if I went next year? Also, any early thoughts who could headline it next time around?

Anyone got any experience of going to this on their own? Was considering going to Standon Calling as it’s nearer to me, but the line-up at Y Not looks very good.

That Guns n Roses line up looks like it’ll be a fun gig! Very tempted to buy a ticket.

I’d also like to know a bit more about what Standon Calling is like. I’m looking to go to a festival by myself and this one isn’t too far from where I live. Two of the headliners aren’t really my cup of tea, but it looks like there’s a good variety of genres and upcoming/older stuff?

Reading posts on here, I gather Slam Dunk is a collection of stages, rather than just one main stage? Are The Offspring and Bowling For Soup likely to be on the same stage? Thinking of going, and they’d be the main draw for me.

EODM would be good on a QOTSA day. (or both of them on a Foo Fighters day? 😮)

Headlined Finsbury Park last time they were over here. I reckon with a couple of strong support acts they could do BST. (Probably wishful thinking on my part. But it really is the only place other than Glastonbury I can see them playing here)

Are there any gigs still to be announced for this? Any chance QOTSA could play? They’re in Europe in June and presumably at Glastonbury. I feel like they would play at least one other UK show.
