  1. Reckon this years resale will be massive. Just reading on this forum so much has changed - Children, break ups, financial changes, some people losing interest, new commitments in 2022. Not to mention people who cancelled last year thinking that it was going ahead and they had commitments.
  2. reading through this forum I reckon there is going to be alot of tickets up for grabs. Alot has changed in the 2+ years we waiting- children, break ups, changes in financial circumstances and not forgetting people who would of cancelled last year thinking it was going ahead and had other commitments.

    2022 Headliners

So you have an issue with under 30 but under 22 is ok? . Big age milestones are 16, 18 , 21 and 30 then its 40 so choosing 30 is wholly appropriate cut off. Otherwise how else can you split an audience. Age is a big influence, if I was born in 2010s I would be more likely to be a rap fan as Rock doesn't have a hold on the industry as much. Ive never argued that under 30s dont like Macca ( highly likely they like the Beatles vs his solo stuff) I've just said that its not making it on young people Spotify wrappeds which would indicate its not at the forefront of their listening habits. People will enjoy Macca but what I've argued is younger people have lots of others they prefer headline. Like I said before, Lionel Richie got a massive crowd, doesn't mean people want him to headline over Arctic monkeys

😂 I dont think you know what point youre making. You said "Your under 30's scenario is arbitrary and generalising to the point of meaningless."- the post youre commenting on argue against that. Please re-read my response to you. we're making different points

    2022 Headliners

Again not what I argued. Never said all under 30's aren't fussed. nice try but focus on what im arguing. Ill repeat my argument - Other artists e.g. Kendrick and Taylor would be bigger headliners for more under 30's because they are at the forefront of the industry. If they were given the option to see Kendrick/Taylor vs Macca, more would opt for Kendrick. (For note I would rather see Macca). The reason being Macca and the Beatles aren't at the forefront of the industry currently. Lionel Richie got a massive crowd, doesn't mean under 30s want him over the arctic monkeys as a headliner. If the Beatles really still hit with Younger people on a deeper level - get back doc would of been a much bigger hit. (Didn't crack the top 10 original acquired shows when released and Peter Jackson said that those who watched were majority over 55) Not saying they are irrelevant. Im saying that under 30s acknowledge them and respect them and listen to them but they aint on the top of their lists on who should headline.

Back tracking a bit aren't we? Never said under 30s wouldn't be interested. I commented on someone who argued that Macca was a massive headliner and I said it was a generational thing why the OP wouldn't consider it. That people under 30 would generally wouldn't consider him being a massive headliner. You had the rigid view that Macca is massive and I argued that its a perspective.

Jheez take some time to actually read what I said instead of writing an argument on what you think I said to fit your needs. It really doesn't come off smart. My argument is not whether under 30s listen to the Beatles at all. Its the frequency and volume >"as a significant proportion of their music times" (Should have said listening hours). I listen to the Beatles but I listen to Oasis and The Killers more. Taylor swift is undoubtedly more frequent and captures that demographic more. Fact. Just look at her numbers on Spotify. Doesn't have to be Taylor, could be any current artist. How many people under 30 get their Spotify wrapped and the Beatles are anywhere on that list. Again you guys just presume things about me or try and put words in my mouth. Clearly anyone who says anything about Macca gets you rattled. Literally said the Beatles is the greatest rock band ever. I listen to all sorts of older music - Tribe called quest, Oasis, Bowie e.c.t but sure you... got me pegged and presume I limit myself. Log off for the day - its actually embarrassing

My point exactly - you're not too interested in any of the headliners. Exactly what im getting at

    2022 Headliners

You're just being flippant now... Do you really think the people under 30 are listening to the Beatles as a significant proportion of their music times. Or better yet, how many have them on their playlists. Vast majority would have music from the last 15 years and they will have elements from older eras. Thanks for proving my point, Perspective is important to relevancy. Her music is more relevant to young people. Wasn't hard was it? Im going in a big group., Macca isn't high on their lists. Different generations, different tastes. We can appreciate his music and his standing but we do the same with Lionel Richie. Jheez you are really out of touch with young people. The argument of who's music will last is just dumb. Really doesn't matter for someone who doesn't listen to the Beatles but listens to Taylor in the here in now. Im going to the festival this summer, dont really care about the next 60 years. Never seen someone so rattled by someone saying that they aren't as excited to see Macca as other people.

Never said he wasn't a legend . I even said he was part of the most consequential band of all time. Stop putting words in my mouth just because I dont gush over Macca headlining. Get back wasn't out when he was originally announced so the comment is moot. Sorry but relevance still applies to him - its a matter perspective. Kendrick is a bigger star than Macca if you're aged 16-30. Taylor is a bigger and more relevant to the same demographic. Its cos they're at the forefront of the music industry. They have massive launch parties and massive listening number which Macca doesn't match. Someone who is under 30 wouldn't rank him highly as must see headliners. That's the point im trying to get across.

    2022 Headliners

A generational thing. I wouldn't consider him a massive headliner personally. Think the Beatles are the greatest and most consequential rock band of all time but none of my friends are hyped about him headlining. Hes not in the forefront of the music industry now.

Oasis were synonymous with Brit pop and once Be here now came out that was the end of Brit pop. Shame really, Listening to Noel's remaster of "Do you know what I mean?" released that the album had potential but the brothers needed a break before their 3rd.

Oasis was a cultural phenomenon. They were the biggest band in the world and we havent seen anything like that since in the Rock world. Liams great and hes big but hes no where near Oasis levels.

    2021 New Music

Think Pressure machine is a decent album. Some great tunes. Some killers songs and some distinctly not Killers. Glad they made it but really looking forward to TK8 as they said its more of a continuation of Imploding the Mirage which I adore.
  16. Last Years Oct sale was cancelled due to a lack of returns per Emily. I highly doubt that people have cancelled in the year since as people will probably hold it to the wire.
  17. I should note I dont think the festival will go bankrupt but I do fear that 2022 celebration maybe held back due to financial constraints
  18. Thats the thing. Dont think it would have cost alot to set up but I dont see it being a big money maker. The online event was a bust and wonder if they will lose money due to refunds.
  19. really dont think that's gonna make a dent. The only number I can find for resale tickets is around 10,000 in 2014 but no idea if that number is legit or not. Per Emily, Oct 2020 resale was cancelled due to lack of returns. Even if next year has more than usual returns you cant expect more than 13,000 (around 10%) and if that was the case demand is gonna be huge. Those who get it are the luckiest people- should also buy a lotto ticket on the same day
  20. Think its gonna be so difficult to get tickets. One I think supply maybe a bit bigger than in previous years as people may of cancelled thinking they couldn't go in 2021 so cancelled early. Doubt there's gonna be a big population who cancel between now and April. I feel like everyone wants a big party and I reckon that the line up maybe stellar given that every band wants to tour/ released new material and there's no better place to market than Glastonbury. The other side is demand is gonna be huge. People want to go back to normal and given the above statement on the potential line up will mean more people are ready to give it a try
  21. Think that's a good option. Im happy to put up more money if it helps fund a stellar "50th anniversary" and help all the good causes. Really hope they pull out some extra special surprises
  22. Kinda want to circle back to this - are there any concerns that money maybe an issue for next year? The reason why is I feel like Glastonbury is pulling all the tops to bring in cash. Either from selling the online show, the worthy pastures camping and trying to get an Autumn event going. Currently we dont know the pricing of tickets for next year but im willing to be its gonna be a pricey increase. It was quoted around £265 for 2020 but I suspect we could breach £300. That would bring just shy of £5m extra which would go a long way to help. Personally fine with that as it goes to good causes and I want them to pull out all the stops but know others are struggling.
  23. Hi all, i dont want to be all doom and gloom but i thought i would bring up the below article https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/jun/25/michael-eavis-glastonbury-will-go-bankrupt-if-it-cant-be-staged-in-2021-coronavirus It indicates that if the 2021 event does not go ahead, there is a strong possibility of bankruptcy. What are peoples thoughts on whether the COVID 19 pandemic will continue deep into next year? I also was wondering what people thoughts of the size of the event. Obviously the cancelled 2020 event was supposed to be the 50th anniversary and with that we were expecting an extra special event. I know they havent confirmed that ticket prices for the 21 event but i personally would be happy if they increased it to help shore up their balance sheet and be able to put on a special show. What are peoples thoughts?
