In practice a taxi would take you to a train station, then avoid people on the train and get to a hotel or somewhere you can quarantine safely. Guess it’s just the risk of going if you’re based abroad.

I don’t think walking past a few people in Tesco is comparable with being crammed in together. on a long bus ride, let alone a ventilationless, rammed Tipi tent. This is prolonged duration exposure indoors with maskless strangers. That’s the exact set of circumstances to avoid/minimise.

It’s possible to both have no fears whatsoever about being hospitalised or death but still wonder whether it’s a good idea to put yourself in a situation where you have a reasonable risk of spending a few days in bed feeling like shit. There’s also an existential question to think about. Is it possible that if I engage in a high risk activity like mixing closely indoors (Tipi etc), might I get infected and pass it onto someone unvaccinated which also in turn hurts the nhs. Bonaroo music festival requires masks for indoor stages.

The risk of getting covid at a festival is not “tiny” is it. It’s quite high. I think it’s a reasonable approach to not want to pick up any kind of illness, even if you have been double jabbed.

Bands always get booked for particular days. They have all the day split information and have now worked out which bands can’t make it. So no reason not to release it. Next week surely…

Spotted on Twitter: Hi Alexandre. Upon further discussion, if you have an EU Digital Covid Certificate then this will be accepted. Alternatively, you can pick up lateral flow tests from any UK chemist to gain entry to the site via a negative result. Thanks, Team EOTR.

From a music perspective, opening themboth up would have led to sound bleed issues.

Prob in minority but I have no problem wearing a mask if I go in the tipi which is a small enclosed space after all. After a while I forget I’m even wearing it.

I feel very confident they will err on the side of leniency. It’s not in their interest to turn people away that have credible looking documents and even an nhs printed cerificate can of course be easily faked. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a one second glance, which has been my experience at airport check in desks recently (and that’s where fines are possible). I’d relax!

At the risk of jinxing it, there was a very significant chance this festival was going to get cancelled and now with a mere three weeks to go, we’re past the point of no return both in that the organisers have committed and the govt can’t do a u-turn (for once). Game on!

In fairness the Orbital and Leftfield day was both an epic dual booking and pretty full if I recall.

They know all the stage splits right now so can’t see why they’d really hold them back.
