  1. Fuck it, I'm going balls deep on Reg for Kendrick.

    Kanye West

The Remix that weirdly comes before the actual version, that run of Diamonds through to Gone is great though.
  3. Great work @Gnomicide for a Mini Reg Thingy. I don't know Elton John personally, I don't know his thought process, but based purely on a hunch I do wonder if next year is different for him. We don't know why but it seems like neither the festival or him have shown much interest in each other in years past. Might be down to fees or other demands or the festival just deciding to pursue other artists.... Elton might be looking back now as he winds down his touring career and see Glastonbury as the last big gig he's never done, and what better way to sign off a life on the road with a greatest hits set on El Pointo (I bet he calls it that)? Similarly Elton John is one of the few remaining megastars still touring regularly the festival have never booked, getting him to play the second last night of his farewell UK Tour would be a massive coup even for them. Feels like the stars are aligning.... this time it's different.
  4. Why would you play Glastonbury when you still have provincial football stadia to tick off? We just need a League 2 club to move in temporarily. He'd be all over it then.

    Kanye West

This thread has inspired to have a day of Kanye albums while I'm working. Got Late Registration on at the moment, had forgotten how hard Diamonds From Sierra Leone slaps.
  6. Don't get me wrong, I like PSB, but not as much as I like PSB.
  7. Briefly got very excited on seeing a Tweet dating “PSB”’s Passport gig… then realised it was the wrong PSB.
  8. Speaking of which, I was best man on a stag this weekend.... First proper session for the best part of two years. Fair to say I have not felt healthy since.
  9. He’s had shows and tours around GF too many times in the past for us not to apply a pinch of salt. That said I do suspect things could be different this time.
  10. We have no concrete evidence any of the original trio are up for it next year either.
  11. Scenes when it's actually Macca that Elton is replacing and we go into the festival without a traditional guitar/rock act headlining.
  12. Can we just fuck this thread off now?
  13. Well that’s it. Ol’ Reg himself is the elephant in the room here, if he’s finally up for it then there’s no way the festival don’t at least approach him if one of the first three have bailed.
  14. There are several unknowns here. Whilst we can all agree that the festival would most likely give the original trio first refusal we don’t know their situations. None of have have anything announced for 2022 and at best we just have rumour and speculation to go on, nothing to conclusively link any of them to Worthy Farm just yet. For all we know one or two or all three of them have told the festival early that they have no plans to play next year and the festival have been able to look elsewhere. We don’t know what goes on behind closed doors, but it would be well known in the industry, and to the Eavii, that Elton has these dates and that gap, just as they’d know about Billie’s. Elton has never shown much inclination towards playing in the past but as this is the final stages of his final tour you can see how a massive send off at Glastonbury would appeal. All we can do is wait and see, but I still think it’s bollocks to think they would spurn the chance to book him because of some imagined need for someone a bit younger.
  15. And the point you seem to be deliberately missing is that there is no way the festival would turn down the opportunity to sign up a bona fide living legend for the sake of some diversity quota you’ve invented - on that note, is not one of the world’s most prominent gay musicians and rights advocates pretty diverse? I think you’re giving too much thought to the Kendrick/youth thing. I don’t think the average punter cares that much, it certainly doesn’t matter as much you seem to think it does. Most people will just see that Elton John is playing and be excited to see him, or they’ll go elsewhere.
  16. Ultimately I can’t accept that if Kendrick has pulled out they wouldn’t at least consider asking Elton John (at the end of his farewell tour) to perform on the grounds that they’ve already got an old white guy playing.
  17. People who like Kendrick are also capable of liking other things too.
  18. I’m a Kendrick fan and would be delighted if Elton was his replacement.
  19. Is Billie not too close to Taylor? Both female pop acts…
  20. Were they catering for everyone when they booked Coldplay and Muse same year? Or Neil Young and Springsteen? Or Arctics/Stones/Mumfords?
  21. If Elton is willing to do it then they’ll book him. They can get Dave/Dua/Billie any year, this would be a one off.
  22. “Yeah sorry Reg, we’ve already got an old guy so I’m afraid we can’t book you… Your last ever tour you say? Tough.” Is what they would not say.
  23. There’s no reasonable justification for Coldplay headlining Glastonbury 2022. It’d be the laziest and most uninspiring booking imaginable. You would hope both the festival and the band are savvy enough to see this.
  24. There are limited opportunities to book either act these days. As I said above because of Macca’s age and Elton’s pending retirement there aren’t going to be many future opportunities to book them beyond next year. They won’t turn down one because they’ve already booked the other.
