I think more than that - a lot of them genuinely thought they'd be regarded as heroes.
My favourite bit is the guy getting cuffed with the security sat on him and he's screaming "You cant treat me like a black person".

Mason & Dixon is actually far more approachable than Gravity's Rainbow and a better book for it . Gravity's Rainbow and Ulysses are the famously most difficult texts. Get to the end of one or both and you will find all other books piss easy in comparison, so worth persevering for that alone, though actually, unsurprisingly ,they are both very good books on the third or fourth read.
Gravitys Rainbow broke me and i VERY rarely give up on books.
Loved the opening sentence which has stayed with me but lost the novels thread at some point shortly after

After having just spent Xmas and NY going nowhere and seeing no one including our own grown up kids and their partners, seeing others just flaunt the rules is more than a little frustrating.

Keep the noise down lads...
I wonder if they'll move the headliner to come on at 7. I like to be in bed by 9

Clubs are (were) good. House Parties (are / were) better .
The festival was, is, and allways will be, the best.
11 years later and I still see this and smile. Cant quite believe I got to see that

I remember thinking what a really good idea I thought it would be taking loads of acid and then loads of speed at the same time. Spent the next 12 hours walking with no idea where I was going or where I'd been.
Didnt try that one again

Nostromo - Joseph Conrad.
Dont normally go for books set in hot climates as I get too sweaty and uncomfortable.
But some of the set piece scenes in this are just brilliant.

I've spent this evening reading 'Greener Pastures' - a collection of short horror/weird fiction stories by Michael Wehunt.
It's not a genre I read a lot of, but I do enjoy getting thoroughly creeped out by a book, especially at this time of year.
This book has so succeeded in that vein that I've had to put it down for now 😂 for the last hour or so I've been laying on my couch, reading, and constantly having to look above/behind me to make sure some Slenderman-esque figure isn't hovering over me. Going to have to watch something funny before I go to bed!
Blimey - I'm in for this.
Still working on Black and British. Enjoying it - just wish that Kindle % completed figure would move a little faster..

Bristol shooting up in it's case rate with 307 per 100,000 people now @eFestivals
BANES at 169 per 100,000
Wonder how long until we're put in to Tier 2? Hospitalisations look relatively stable currently however.
I dotn get how Bristol has managed to avoid it so far. B&NES are assuming they'll be in Tier 2 shortly

Well this is a cheery first thread to read this morning.
I'm going to hold on to my blind optimism and wilful ignorance of whats plain as day a little longer.
They're still selling tickets for the Oh Sees at SWX in Bristol for the 5th November (week after next) so everything MUST be going to be alright by then

How likely is Scotland to follow the Welsh lead. Surely it makes most sense to co-ordinate?

Been a subscriber to Mojo for years. Fuck knows why. Haven’t been arsed to cancel it. They just chug out the same stories month after month. This month it’s the annual Dylan article. No insight, no critique just a few glossy photos and text nicked from a thousand other articles.
Lazy. Lazy. Lazy.
Album reviews are Ok mind. But nothing better than you can read for free elsewhere

Somedays the only reason for getting up in the morning is the forlorn hope that one fine day Boris and all his cronies will get their heads kicked in for all the nightmare they're responsible for.
