I used to be an absolutely massive fan of Blondie in their heyday.

Now they're like the expectation of a perfect avocado that turns out to been left for too long.

Agree also, the 2014 set was disappointing imo. I hate to say it but Rod is a better “legend” for what that slot requires.

Doubt it, it's probably been nearly 20 years since he last played with them.

I wouldn’t be surprised- Dave loves Glastonbury and loves to play. He was on stage with JH as them crooked vultures for the Taylor tribute gig last year

More I look at this, more I wonder if they could be third on the Pyramid or the Other headliner against Elton John, though think we've had enough info to indicate others in those. Either way...

    I Got Mine
    2 Howlin' for You
    3 Wild Child
    4 Fever
    5 Tighten Up
    6 Your Touch
    7 Gold on the Ceiling
    8 Lo/Hi
    9 Next Girl
    10 She's Long Gone
    11 Little Black Submarines
    12 Lonely Boy

They’re not as big now as when they subbed in 2014. I love them personally but they are far better at their own shows than in front of an unappreciative pyramid audience waiting for the headliner

They've let one of the blokes talk?

To be fair they’re a duo aren’t they? Lucky to get onstage 😉 makes up for the all male  “artist” shortlist imo

To be honest, as much as I enjoy the legends slot when it's someone I like it would be a relief not to deal with the crowds for once. Pretty sure I'd be elsewhere.

    I agree!

    Yes

The Stone circle field is always totally rammed on the Wednesday evening. Some of our crew help out with stewarding every year. Last year wasn't that different from previous years.

Personally I think it was a lot busier, we normally make it to the field even at 10pm before the fireworks start and find a spot to sit and chill. Last year we arrived much earlier and couldn’t get near the field.

Tbh if you hadn’t of mentioned Roxy Music being lined up I don’t think I would’ve at all considered them for the slot.

Is this because they headlined WH in recent history? I was a huge fan back in the 80s. Bryan’s voice is gone now (saw hem support Barbara Streisand) but as always the crowd does the hard work. Off the top of my head:

    Jealous Guy

    Let’s stick together

    Avalon

    Love is the drug

    More than this

    Virginia Plain

    Do the strand

    Dance Away

    Angel eyes

    In the midnight hour

  8. I stayed in WV from 2014-2019, once with my youngest (at the time 8 yr old). No point really in getting there super early as tents are pre allocated. We tend to get there mid afternoon on the Wednesday. The only year I have queued to get in was the muddy 2016 when everything was chaotic. Traffic was never an issue coming from the west as it’s pretty much the first turn off. Showers aren’t 24 hrs as they have limited water. People queue from 7am but very busy 8-11. Quieter in the evening

Is she on the ball I wonder ? Anyone any ideas what time this is due today ?

I noticed she liked the Instagram teaser from Stevie Nicks. Someone said that Emily also liked it but I can’t see that

That was the first time I saw them that 606 gig. About the only good thing to happen at that v festival!

I first saw them at V 2003 with Queens of the Stone Age and Skunk Anansi! Can’t remember much of 2007 other than Snow Patrol being awful. This was long before I had a phone that connected to the internet or took pictures… I’m wondering how I knew about the secret set other than knowing 606 was their recording studio

  11. My money is on a Foos secret set, they do have a new album people seem to have forgotten. Huge history of this type of shenanigans, not only C & G but playing as the Holy Shits in small venues in Brighton and London. At the V festival 2007 they were subs but also played a set on the third (?) stage as an opener as “606”. I’ll go for 11 am Friday opener on the Other - no crush issues and half the festival is still hungover from Thursday night excess

  12. AM: 5% depending on what else is on and I know one friend will likely want to be there. Haven’t forgiven my son for making me miss the end of Portishead to see them in 2013. Only time I’ve seen Portishead and he has seen AM numerous times all over the world since…

GnR: 75% depending on competition. Might even get my top hat out… wouldn’t pay to see them but greatest hits set including a few covers would do me. Love a rock night

Elton: 90%, again wouldn’t pay to see him any more than Macca but similarly should have guests and it’s a unique experience. If QOTSA are against him I will be super annoyed but probably watch it on tv instead

I can appreciate that. It was honestly mentioned as a way of noting the passing of time rather than being a butt of a joke. But, lesson learned. I hadn’t recognised how it would feel for anyone for whom it’s relevant. Again, I’m sorry for being so crass. We live and we learn and I’ve done both today.

Thanks 😊 let’s just say it is never used as a compliment!

Do 1D fans never age? They should be able to handle mild life disappointments like this by now, surely? Hell, most of them ought to be menopausal or something.

Ahem! Sexist… also my daughter was a massive 1D fan when they nearly won X factor. She is now… 25!

  15. I’ve tried the resale every year since 2013 for other people and never been successful. Failed in standard sale in 2019 but successful in April this year thankfully. Will be trying again for friends in April

I felt like he was the Other headliner as that year all the stages were late due to the storm. Skrillex needed the late night dance slot. Like him or not, he is an incredible talent with a hugely diverse back catalogue and an ability to do rock/pop/funk/acoustic. Not afraid to completely rework his classics. I think he would still get a huge crowd on the pyramid in any slot

And… far better live than recorded. Not sure when his “prime” is/was if you measure it by sales but he still sells out
