Wine

Hi all,

Was just wondering if wine came under the 1 litre of spirits? And also, do the crates of beer/cider need to be sealed or can you take 24 individual cans? (Was thinking 2 x 12 packs or 1 x 20 then 4 separate cans).

Couldn't find any answers to these questions previously, apologies if they have been asked before!

Thanks :)

Hi, I think wine may come under the 1 litre but not 100% sure I saw people just taking in them bag/box litres of wine last year.

I think it would be worth buying the crate of 20 and then taking 4 seperate cans in ya bag or something and then at least if you can't take them in (which would be pretty harsh) your only loosing 4 can and not 12.

Hope this helps :D

To be honest I was camping near a group of scottish lads last year and they had all taken in 5 litres each of Buckfast so you may be ok with the wine!!

They are not too strict on the search's as you go through. Normally, we travel with 3 lads, 3 girls and split the luggage so the girls get the light stuff. Last year I went through with 3 crates and my backpack and explained that I was carrying someones elses beer and pointed to some random girls waiting for their mates who didnt have a crate on them. The just said fine and I walked in.

To be honest they probably are just looking to avoid people taking the piss. In four years I have never seen anyone have alcohol confiscated for going over the alloted amount

Very true, to the last poster. A friend of mine worked on the gates last year and said most people had more then allowed but at the end of the day they are searching your bags for drugs and anything that could be used as a weapon. 10cl over the limit they aren't going to rip your ticket up!
