Actually you know what - my bad. The first hour of Saturday completely slipped my mind. Probably because I was still half asleep - don't usually do 6am starts! We had been told on the Friday night that they wanted the gates open as early as possible on the Saturday, but we honestly weren't expecting them to open them before we'd even arrived there! To me, this just shows how disorganised both Cream and the people I worked for (Festaff - I really wouldn't recommend working for them) were. Even once all the stewards got there (on time, may I add. Unlike our supervisors who rocked up 30 mins late), we had to stand around for 40 minutes whilst waiting to be issued with bags of wristbands. Full security and the police only arrived when we were given them; probably at about 7. I.e. when the gate was supposed to open.

We saw quite a number of people get taken to the Police holding tent to be strip searched when they were singled out by the dog...but I'll also add that we saw no one get arrested. All the people we saw get pulled to the side ended up getting wristbanded 30 mins later because they didn't actually have anything on them!

Just like to say, I did hear about this and was saddened about the attack.. I do hope they get someone for it as this has been happening in Liverpool for a couple of months and it seems to be the same m.o all the time, it seems to me it would be the same group of lads doing this and the victims are 9 times out of 10 have never eaven spoken to the assailants. I think this is disgusting and I hope they jail the f**kers for a long time when they are eventually caught.

Or even better still release their details in the local press... an eye for an eye and all that :)

girl_in_the_fire just out of curiosity what happened when someone did get caught with drugs or anything like that if they weren't getting arrested? I know you said the people who were searched didn't have anything on them but surely they must have caught some people trying to sneak stuff in??

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
    • In a 6,800-word Substack essay, external, the Clacton MP said "anti-white racism was embedded into the state", and that legislation aimed at equality was a form of "social cleansing"   .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjkd4mp93zo   The privileged white c**t hasn’t got a clue what racism is.
