Quick question

I'm interested in getting a day ticket for the saturday at sonisphere this year for the first time. I was browsing the site and i came across this:

"Stage Running times

Check back for the stage running times.

The Saturn and Apollo outdoor stages run in a “flip-flop” style which means that whilst one stage has a band performing on it, the other is being set up for the next band. There will be a gap of approximately 10-15 minutes between the bands ending and starting to allow people to take a short break and move to the other stage."

Does this mean it is possible to see the full set of both stage head liners (biffy clyro and mars volta) or does it just mean there is an overlap in the times that bands on opposite stages play so you might catch a few minutes of one? It seems a bit odd if it was the case that you could see both head liners in full but it would be ideal for me since i love both bands. Thanks.

There should be little (5 mins) if no overlap. So Mars Volta will play the 2nd stage at one end of the field then finish. Then the main stage will kick into action.

So no overlap. Year 1 there were some small overlaps but they were minimal.

Year two i didn't notice any overlaps on the two main stages, there was about 10-15 minutes between each band, plenty of time to saunter from one stage to other.

It's not odd that you can see both headliners in full, that is Sonisphere's Unique Selling Point! It's all the other fests that are odd!!!

Wow that sounds good, so basically you could see every band on the apollo and saturn stages if you wished? Does this not create problems between the bands when most people rush to the other stage? Sorry for the questions i've never been or really looked into Sonisphere before so this is all new to me

Yup you should be able to see every band on Apollo and Saturn over the whole weekend if you wanted to, fair bit of walking back and forward though. Didn't notice any major problems with people walking between them in years 1 and 2 (they made the arena slightly bigger in year 2 so it was a longer walk! But still plenty of time between the bands for it), some people start leaving towards the ends of sets to get a better spot at the next one, don't expect to be able to easily get to the font at both stages though, and as it gets nearer to the headliners the crowd does increase so it is harder to get a decent spot. But there's no mad dash, you just have to weave in and out of the people who are sitting around.
