  1. Yes, maybe, but black market car park tickets will be over £150 by then.
  2. Pete Paphides did a big splurge on how much he liked Jessica's Brother and how good their new (only?) album was. Naturally, I've lost the link.
  3. Don't get on the wrong side of the Archives Manager. Just saying.
  4. There's usually some good stuff going on in the lawned areas on the other side of the gallery/first aid area, but I'm not sure it's exactly aimed at 12 year olds, rather than a younger clientele. There'll be some suitable films at the cinema pre-evening, and the Try Out As a Human Cannonball promotion on the gunnery range has also proved very popular in previous years.
  5. Broken Social Scene should be booked again, immediately, they're doing nothing else this year.
  6. So if not Boygenius, we can expect the consolation prizes of Muna and Ethel Cain? Which wouldn't be a bad thing perhaps...
  7. Yep. Seems to have shrunk to a UK (Belfast) date in June.
  8. Playing the deliriously catchy Royel Otis in the background and waiting for the now-usual meh-ers to pop up and complain about an increasingly eclectic and adventurous line-up. This year: "classical" music added. Actually, it's a cracker, folks.
  9. Aside from the listed acts who are already down for EOTR, there's about 4 others who are of any interest. Factor in the inevitable snow in Scotland, the otherwise meh line-up, there's no comparison. Each to his own.
  10. I was thinking Julia Jacklin as Simon EOTR had recently linked to her, but I see she has UK dates 2 months before and 2 months after EOTR...
  11. Me, I must be with the silent majority. I confidently expect a rammed second line-up announcement, and all the old hands - those who were there to negotiate the newly-laid Rocky Road blindfold in the dark in a thick fog with a wonky overloaded trolley, and in the times before - will say what a tease Simon EOTR is, we knew all along.
  12. Yep, I found the GM line-up reassuringly meh: after all the EOTR dissing here, there seems a lot of artificial enthusiasm for the GM announcement, yet the headliners are so-so, and as per usual, there's a lot of last and previous year's EOTR line-up being repeated. Some of the mid-range GM acts will (I'm sure) turn up at EOTR, and I'm confident there'll be some weighty names still to come, so I'm more than content with what EOTR are doing.
  13. Been twice. Yes, it's a bit of an Iron Curtain vibe if you're trying to smuggle food and drink in. Food in arena feels a bit pricey - they were charging traders 15% of takings to participate in their cashless wristband payment scheme, so inevitably that fed back - but could be good: Japanese Rice Bowl definitely best festival food I've ever had. Not much happening out of hours, but music has been pretty terrific: last year's Appalachian jam was great fun and The Band's Last Waltz concert recreation - until curtailed by a storm - was utterly fantastic. This year's line-up is already pretty stellar, with more to come. They deserve to do well and become a fixture: crowds haven't been massive, hence them trying the day ticket route. I feel a certain resistance to loving it, and doubt I'll ever feel the affinity I have for EOTR, but on the other hand the actual music is a winner every time. Can't see myself not being a repeat attendee.
  14. Long Road Home have just announced for the preceding weekend - would be happy to see 3-4 from there hanging on to pop up in Dorset/Wilts.
  15. A propos of nothing, Black Deer's latest line-up announcements today makes it look like a composite of EOTR rosters from 2008-2011: pretty stellar in my view, and happy to have a ticket in my back pocket!
  16. All this "you said this no I meant that no that's not right you've got that wrong well I'm affronted" is bollocks, isn't it? As my friend Bruce always says, I don't really care who's playing since I've not heard of hardly any of them but it'll be great: it always is. He turned up in 2009 to the sound of Dent May playing Beach Boys on his uke, and he's been turning up ever since. It's not like there's only three acts playing, eh? I'll be going back to reading threads from 2011 for some balance.
  17. There will be at least one more top-up announcement of size, and I'd expect a decent quota of mid- to upper- range names to be included, and at least one more headliner, in line with announcements from previous years: this should answer some of the complaints in this area. I still feel Big Thief may feature, particularly in view of their links with other artists already announced. On the other hand, of course, this may be complete bollocks. I agree what you say about tips, and jars are prominently displayed at all the festival bars.
  18. In the singer-songwriter mode, here's Katy:
  19. I understand the Boat will be in a cave this year.
  20. Got you. Looking at the words from their last post then, Bright Ears are dead certs to headline.
  21. Ah yes, the tricky third poster band clue, following the first testing poster band clue and the second baffling poster band clue.
  22. Well, they have posted two different 2023 flyers which no doubt contain hidden info for extraction, so knock yourself out.
  23. Entirely conditional upon the former playing Detectorists music with Dan Michaelson.
  24. Over to Howard Webb and the VAR team.
  25. That's them nailed-on as a dead-cert headliner then.
