Honestly the flags debate is tired....  there will be flags they did a vote and the majority of people voted in favour.

The way I see it if you dont like flags you have 3 options

    1) continue to be made unhappy by flags

    2) work on yourself to find a way to become tolerant of flags

    3) stop going to Glastonbury choose a festival without flags.

Option 2 works out best. But each to there own.

No point harbouring any expectation  that flags or rules around them are gonna change

    4) flag shaggers realise how selfish they are blocking the view of others and stop waving them around during sets so they can tell their mum they got on the telly.

I will try to be brief. This year was a no brainer due to my treatment. Next year who knows whether I will be fitter or worse. Hence WV is out  and Styclch  seems to be so far out. We did Lovefields but £1500 for a very basic tent but location couldnt be beaten. I wouldnt call it glamping though unless ypu had £10 grand spare. The other option there is to pitch ones own for £750 does anyone know if they could get a 4/6 man in there, how strict are they at measuring? Do you still have to pay for each person? Is there an easy tent that size to put up that wont cost the earth? How does those people get camping between the Pyramid and other stage is it an horrendous price? We wont discuss the pop up hotel😃

the other option is access camping pre erected but I beleive its far out as well? We do get the short cuts pass.

i kniw we havent got the tickets yet but financially we are looking at the options.

    thank you.

Accessibility camping is by Woodsies.  Not really that far out, especially when compared to the off site options.

Prices were ok, but actual choice, or at least variation between bars was down.

Example the cockmill above used to have all sorts of different real ale that no other bar had. It made popping into the different bars worthwhile to see what they had. This year it was all otter ale etc.

If you wanted something cold you had to go with the Brooklyn as the ale was Otter.

  4. Was at Hot Chip, plenty of space down the right.

Maybe they just it got it so right on the Friday night, with a selection of headliners that were equally popular and well suited for their stages.

Or that maybe people weren't so fussed about that they decided to go places they wouldn't usually at that time of night - SEC, Silver Hayes etc.

If everywhere was reasonably busy but with space to move then they probably nailed it.

Went for option 2 as some flags can be fun and it is rather atmospheric but I'd be up for a full ban tbh, there's a full ban on flares but we still get a few after all so probably works out about right.

Sadly having had this conversation in a number of places the attitude of flag w*nkers is utterly awful - proper "you come and try saying something to me mate" type threatening aggression which matches exactly what I've experienced in person when trying to ask folk to think of those behind them as their flag repeatedly hits us and gets in the way.

The Eavis's desperately need to revisit this. They need to look at how it's destroying the view for not just the folk on the Accessibility Platforms but throughout the fields - what's the point in the glorious natural Pyramid Field ampitheatre that made it such a phenomenal live music venue when you can't see squat unless you're right at the front? Elton's stage may as well have been completely empty and just videos playing on the screens. Not a scooby whether there was a stage show, never saw the stage.

Then they need to look at the attitude of flag w*nkers and ask themselves if this is what they want. Vile attitudes, completely contrary to the festivals Respect pledge and more.

The argument from some of the flag shaggers that it doesn't matter if your view is blocked because you can just see the screen anyway, is just so hideously mean spirited and condescending.

People should be able to see what they want on the stage and not what the director at the time has chosen for people to see.  I might want to watch the drummer for a bit, or the dancers, or see how the bassist and guitarist are interacting.

Flag shaggers remove that choice from everyone else.  And for what?  Their own narcissism?

  6. Only got to see some on the Sunday as late nights are rarer these days, and there's other late night stuff than djs.  But what I did see I enjoyed.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs in the Glade.

    Romy in the Stonebridge,

    Followed by I. Jordan.

Then the festival was over 😭

Edit:  if you count Wheel of Four Tunes on the Thursday at Sensation Seekers stage - great fun.

How do I download a set? I want the Young Fathers one.

    Is there an app required?

There's a programme called Jdownloader2.  Install that, open it.  Copy the iplayer link, go to the linkgrabber tab and start the download.  Very intuitive.  No messing about with coding and prompt windows.

    I'm getting 1080p too.

That's the end of row mead imo.... Shame been there since 99....you warch the top end will be food stalls from now on...

That wouldn't be a bad thing.  My wife queued for 25 mins to get food at the top before Elton and they'd run out by the time she got to the front.  She then went to the food stalls up towards muddy lane and the two choices were pig or vegan.

Whoever invented the monstrosity of a vegan hot dog needs banning from Glasto.

There are toilets up at the back (but no urinals though) and getting down to the Cider Bus wasn't too much of a hassle except for Elton.

There's no act Glastonbury could book now that would ever draw a crowd as big as Elton's though.

I walked up to the Muddy Lane loos during Elton.  Didn't take long and no queues at all.

  10. We took our boy to his second Glasto at 19 months, last year he was 7 months for his first.

At 7 months old it is just so easy.  You could just plonk him down and he would stay where he was sitting.  Or carry him into a crowd and he would just be happy watching a band in my arms.

At 19 months it's completely different.  He is so independent minded and never wants to sit still.  But there was a lot more interaction, especially with other children which was a joy to see.

If you want to actually watch a band, make sure you stop next to another family with kids.  They are much more likely to stay in one place and be content.

Spent lots of time in the kidz field, T&C, Avalon for a nice chill, Greenpeace kids.

At night he would fall asleep in the pull along trolley and sleep through the headliners.  The opening of Row Mead to Pyramid viewing was great for families.

And I concur with @Hugh Jass II, Wicket is brilliant camping for families.  My boy made friends with the kids in the tent next to us and they were running around and playing together every morning.

Odd tantrum here and there.  But a wonderful experience all round and we could tell he really enjoyed himself.

  11. This was an excellent idea.  Lots of space on the hill, and what a view!  Would never have seen that view of the festival without it being opened up.

Saw the Foos from the top and the sound was pretty good too.

  12. Wednesday was perfect setting up weather, until it rained.  But my tent was up then anyway so had a nap before the second trip to the car.  Timing was perfect (for me!)

Saturday I had a bit of heat stroke and had to have lie down in the Cockmill.  Missed Badly Drawn Boy but listened from the bar.

Monday was perfect taking down weather.  Not too sunny with a stiff breeze.

And before people vote they should have a look at this from next to the disabled viewing platform. Where flags in the pit created a wall you could not see through.

It is not fair people without the physical (or mental) ability to get down the front cannot see.

Yeah but those people holding their flags down the front had a great view.

I was standing right next to the viewing platform for AMs and had a perfectly good view of the screens. I cant remember if I could see Alex or not but tbh at that far back your only looking T the screens and the beautiful overall view (which includes flags, crowd and sky)

Maybe people might want to choose to look at other things on stage and not just what the director chooses for them.

And flag carriers force others to look at their flags and not the stage.
