Have you not seen the increase in the last couple of weeks? We needed to go into Tier 4 at least a week ago.

I get his pain though it's been 6 bloody months, we've had no respite from this at all it's soul destroying tbh 😞

Seeing pictures on my timeline from work colleagues in Liverpool out and about in bars was quite surreal!! Whilst I never did venture to them when I had a brief chance over the summer it makes me sad that they have all been effectively shut since Oct (that's on top of ones that never opened up at all since March) ... seeing those pics really made me upset tbh

Good news on the Oxford jab but I'm so far down the list I don't see any light for me until the summer 😞

Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of all that rubbish.

I seriously doubt it, this will be going on for years as it dawns how shit this deal is and we'll be constantly negotiating something that might benefit the UK - that amount of clauses/review points to me is worrying as can see this as a way of Bojo and co going back on their word and basically have the no deal Brexit they want for some insane reason 😞

Crikey, how do you manage at Glasto?!

probably the same as anyone else wet wipes, anti-bac and occasional soap/water - there isn't usually a global pandemic on in normal times, I see this as enhanced measures in not catching a virus that lets be frank we still don't know a lot about...

I'm not the only one who washes stuff and uses anti-bac when out but I'm sure some folk will think its over the top, fair enough but it's what this household does to stay safe

  4. Actually meant to say a gig that has already moved twice to Feb 2021 has now moved again to Oct 2021, I'm not sure we'll see many bands if any before the summer unless they do one of those socially distanced numbers

We do this on everything that comes in the house, if it can be left for 72hrs it will be in our designated quarantine zone otherwise it will be washed and wiped.

When I go food shopping I don't touch my face or glasses unless used anti-bac and when get to car anti-bac before touching keys opening boot and again when loading shopping....

Bugs are on surfaces (or formites) so I'd rather keep my hygiene up as it's the only time I come into contact with others and what they touch... so far (touch wood) I haven't catch anything but I'm heavily limiting contact and keeping hygiene up 🙂

I feel safer for doing it and I know the other half (who is a germophobe anyway) insists on it - we have some strict protocols in our house and tbh it's going to be hard to let them go as we try to ease restrictions and when I will eventually will have to go back to the office

That’s so frustrating, my brother in law is the same and I can see an impact on my sister which is concerning. It’s so difficult when loved ones are like that.

I know it made me right miserable after the call as just kept replaying it 😞

This was always the problem with the Nightingales, there wasn't there staff to run them. However it won't look good to be closing them down mid 2nd wave.

I had my Mam tell me yesterday that they have to army on standby to run them but they never called them up, so she's like are the hospitals really over run and why aren't the utilising the nightingales??

I tried to explain there wasn't enough specialist critical care staff and that army medics won't always be that specialised in the requirements (to be honest I've not heard anything about army running these things) - christ she flipped her lid that I was suggesting the army medics are inferior (which I didn't) so I tried to step away from the convo very quickly...

My parents have gone down a slippery slope were I can't even have reasonable discussion with them (Dad's gone down the conspiracy rabbit hole 😞 ) It's really made me sad tbh and so many folks are accepting misinformation as fact errgghhh

  8. On a more positive note my Sister in law and old school friend who work in the same hospital have both had their 1st jab last week!! I'm so relieved as know how stressed they have both been over this year and are currently worried sick of yet another round of increasing cases 😞

spare a thought for people in Leicester, did they ever get out of the original lockdown?!

I know it was like a month before Manchester that they went into initial lockdown... on a lot lower case rates think the trigger was 120 per 100k if I remember correctly 😞

I mean...it feels like Manchester has been in tier3 or lockdown for fucking ever.

tell me about it!!!! Seriously doubt we'll be lowered in to Tier 2 now given London has just been put in Tier 3 - can't have us up North having a taste of freedom 😞

I think that's reasonable. For my situation we'd be paying quite a chunk to hire a car and drive for nearly two hours out of our tier to meet in a park. I think that's quite different to dropping something round.

I think a drop off is perfectly reasonable but I'm sure if I was challenged by the police I would be fined 😞

Bear in mind, I've not gone anywhere since March apart from food shopping and post office run

Correct in Tier 3 you can meet other house holds.

Checked that before going from tier 3 to tier 3 to deliver Xmas presents to my parents and sister who I hadn't seen since January. Wasn't clear if this was within or outside the rules but needs must.

I mean it's not much fun in the pissing rain and cold but needs must.

    Meeting outdoors

You must not meet socially (in a private garden or at most outdoor public venues), with anybody you do not:

    Unless a legal exemption applies.

However, you can see friends and family you do not live with (or do not have a support bubble with) in some outdoor public places, in a group of up to 6. This limit of 6 includes children of any age.

    These outdoor public places include:

    • parks, beaches, countryside accessible to the public, forests
    • public gardens (whether or not you pay to enter them)
    • allotments
    • the grounds of a heritage site
    • outdoor sports courts and facilities
    • playgrounds

You can continue to meet in a group larger than 6 if you are all from the same household or support bubble, or another legal exemption applies.

I'm going to drop present off next week and I'm in Tier 3... Don't intend to stay, might ask how they are 2m from their doorstep wearing a mask but then I'll be on my way.. It's basically a delivery

  13. BTW my work place based outside Liverpool is starting lateral flow testing for all staff in the DC and HQ, whilst not compulsory they are encouraging workers to have the tests which will be reviewed weekly.

It's part of an initiative from the local council to use these tests across workplaces to find asymptomatic folk

I'm WFH and based in Manchester anyway so I won't be getting a test, but not sure how well the take up would be cos what if you test positive that would put you and close contacts in isolation until Christmas 😞
