  1. Any slightly more mature people going this year? I'm in two minds - I have got to a certain age (55) that I am the last of my friends to go to festivals (apart from 'easier' events such as Larmer Tree) so for the last few years have travelled solo.

Not normally a problem, but I did find last year that I didn't have much in common with my campsite neighbours who were all late teens/early 20's. I know that it could have been a totally different story camping 50 yards away in any direction, but this coupled with the hills, the rain and the wind didn't make it my favourite festival to be honest.

I loved the whole concept, was bought up on 70's reggae and punk rock and had some great times last year, but I do remember coming away and thinking maybe its got to a stage where I need to seriously consider returning or not.

Since then I had a great Glastonbury (thank you Camp Solo) and am sorely tempted to go again, but obviously need to make a decision shortly before it sells out.

Do I give it a miss and just go to One Love a few weeks later which is much smaller and low key or do I once again dare enter the madness of Boomtown bearing in mind that we are unlikely to be hit by the tail end of a hurricane this year?

Go to Boomtown I was there last year fantastic, I am 10 years your junior but was with a mate your age and a younger crowd also would have meet up with Paul had he made it.  All the same this year I will camp at which was Trench Town and this year seems to be Wild West.

We will "adopt" you whether you want us to or not lol

Likely a met at the cider bar, forget what it is called, which I missed last year also.

  2. I have done some reaserch and cone up with this:
Faltering Fullback at Finsbury Park, nice pub, beer garden and next to 3 train lines and 3 stops to Ally Pally.
The Worthyraver "Massive" will be there from about 6pm
I noticed this on the Ally Pally website all bars and street food vendors are CASH ONLY
  3. Does anybody know a decent pre-gig pub near Alexandra Palace for Friday's gig?

Somewhere like The Duke of Edinburgh is for Brixton Academy, if you know what I mean.

    Thanks :)

  4. See my avatar,

It was my happy place, Thursday night they were playing the funkiest squelchiest house music possible and i was forever trying to drag my mates thete. No need next year as im on me own

Beat Hotel you say I was there Thursday this year when my namesake Seth Troxler was giving one of the highlights of the festival for me fantastic.
    See you there next year!
  5. As has been mentioned babies are actually much easy than older children, that said I would never tale a baby to Glastonbury or any other festival as I dont see what the babies get out of it.
We waited until they were toddlers, then they can really interact with people and take in their surroundings, also slightly better when they are still in nappies for obvious reasons lol
  6. Without getting into the semantics of what is fair and what isn't....my method worked for first few minutes of the coach sale, as it did for the resale back in April...after which the connection seemed to be blocked and resulted in resolution errors. It didn't work at all yesterday so the tickets I bought were as fairly gained as any other.

For my interest I would like to know how See detected the connection to the 'spare' server and dropped it. Perhaps they merely took that service off-line for the duration knowing that folks like me would have an advantage by using it.

I was gutted when they took those two "cheeky" servers off line, it was shaping up to be the quickest t-day ever.

Glad it worked for you on coach tickets day, I will certainly keep my eye on it for the resale.

  7. I am not surprised as they dont seem to exist anywhere, would have been handy to plan where to camp especailly as I am thinking of one the the "posh" loos wristbands.

That said I believe you are only restricted to shower in "your" zone, not that I have ever had a shower at a festival and I dont intend to start now.

Still love to have a map obviously.

  8. Here are the non-official figures from last year the Met Office have not released theirs yet.

  9. Indeed: "holy thread resurrection batman"

I remember this thread fondly from last year and off the back of it took some Tanglefoot, Old Speckled Hen and Golden Hen.

All very good especially Tanglefoot, Golden Hen is also nice but at 4% you basically need to iv it to stand a chance of it working.
