Yep - Think that Frank will probably be headlining the Rising Stage on the Saturday...
-
Aha - Bombay Bicycle Club eh... I've just been listening to their album and it's solid and potentially a grower..
I did wonder about them when I saw them being advertised on the telly the other day!!!! There's certainly a bit of a push about them.

This is most disappointing...
Glad that I went to see Rilo Kiley at the Rescue Rooms last year now having managed to miss them at all other opportunities before that!!! Hold Steady magnitude indeed!!!

I saw some great Glasto spoof t-shirts...
Had the logo on from last year and looked like they were simply last years t-shirts... until you looked at the line up on the back... loads of bands listed with funny names of which I can remember very few... except for the twat twats... but it was brilliant.. spent a good five minutes reading it.

Gutted to find that my regular haunt for a big carb breakfast was no longer where it's always been... anyone know why?? I had to make do with some right inadequate bacon rolls and I failed to find one that particularly satisfied in the morning..
In the end I had to settle for tea and toast in the Park field.. A perfectly nice start to the day served by some ridiculously cheery and friendly people..

Yep - they definitely played... You must have been well out of your head because I was and still managed to work that out!!!!
And then it was up to the Animal Collective after that for a truly weird, mindblowing and uplifting experience.. great way to spend Friday night I thought..

Has it actually been confirmed that they've pulled out??
Or was it simply speculation??

For me the biggest crowd was Kasabian...
Bruce started busy but after half an hour or so it was quite easy to move around...
Honorourable mentions to Dizzee Rascal and Lily Allen too for whom it was really chocker....
And of course Rolf... but I don't know how the capacity at Jazz World compares with the pyramid.

Pretty sure that the website has approximate times..
Levellers 9.30 if I remember correctly.. which I might not have... and can't check at work...
Weather looking good in the east Midlands today.... can't wait for that real ale later...

SUnday evening 2007 for me as well I think....
Though it all started quite well - I'd had enough of the rain and the mud so wandered into the Queens Head tent... it was really quiet in there for some reason - could get to the bar really easily so stood with a friend drinking and watching the line up.... saw Tunng, Seasick Steve and Cold War Kids that night right at the front of the tent...
Then wandered back to my tent and got caught in the eye by the end of a flagpole - some 'twat' was clearly a bit out of it and not looking where they were going... worse still they were so oblivious that they'd caught me in the eye and just kept on walking and laughing with mates, one of whom did realise and laughed at my pain....
Grim - very very grim...

I'm going to be there Andy... though might not be too busy to see the Levellers!!!!
I'm sure I'll bump into you in the Caelidh (Sp) though.... you were hot on that dancefloor last year..

I think The Whip is a great call...
If we're looking for somebody of 'equal' stature to the Noisettes how about Little Boots? Florence and the Machine? Marina and the Diamonds? Are Goldfrapp too expensive?
And I know I'll get shouted down for this but what about The Feeling??
Perhaps it's an opportunity to get the Magic Numbers in again? Or Kissmet? Sophie Ellis Bextor?
Let's think Summer Sunshine and pop music!!!

I seriously hope that there is no problem with the Noisettes.. that'd be so disappointing..
Also noticed that the Airborne Toxic Event get two colours for their name.. greedy blaggers...

Saw the Beat at Shambala last year and they were very, very good.
Ranking Roger still puts on quite a show and part of the charm of the act now is that his son takes lead vocal responsibilities for part of the show... It's quite a modern sound they have!!!

We're pretty stoked here at DiS - South African dub-fusionists BLK JKS and Icelanders múm have been announced as the final additions to DiS' stage at the Leicestival that is Summer Sundae.
múm will headline, and BLK JKS will join My Latest Novel, Fanfarlo and Dananananakroyd who were announced last week as the first three acts for our stage - also known as the 'Rising Stage'. It's BLK JKS' only UK festival appearance, so it should be a pretty special one.
-
There's a band around that have a very similar name to Lee's sterling South Leicestershire pop act but I'm buggered if I can remember what they're called.
-
In past years, announcements about local acts haven't been made to May/June. I think the fact that's it's earlier this year can only be a good thing.

I've never understood the Springsteen tag. Is there an American Stephen Fry, Kenneth Williams, Morrissey, Laurence or Larkin out there in Pepsicola Ohio?

'Dananananaykroyd'
Hmmmmm....Anyone got an easy way of saying this out loud without getting incredibly tongue-tied???
It was bad enough last year with New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack....

So, do we have a complete list of special laminate holders? Namely:-
Rob372
Rob372's mates JJ and Jazz Dave
Alfie672
SeanTizz
RichardH
RichardH's god daughter
That'll be a pretty short print run.....which surely justifies the inclusion of Team "all but one", comprising:
Me, ahem
Kerplunk
Jonleigh
Unihammer
LLCoolPhil and Daughter (under the away goals rule)

I think you've managed to get Prolapse to reform......

Wonder if the 'trees' reference might be a reference to the 'Lightning Seeds'- first new album in a decade coming out shortly...

Er no Ed. Oh dear. I fear I may have unwittingly raised expectations a little on the high side. Time to damp them down again.
Shhhhhhhhhh
in other UK festivals
Posted
After having such a rubbish time(!) last year I've reluctantly bought my tickets again for this years Shambala, and have suggested to a number of friends that they too waste their money on this dire festival... (NB: Tongue firmly in cheek - shhhhh)
Yeah - Shambala's not many weeks away now... a search on myspace will show quite a few of the acts who are scheduled to play this year.. It's looking like another ace one.....
