Is it just me or am I right to be really suspicious of somebody who comes on these boards, having never posted before, and in their first post says 'oh come on, it's not that bad.'?

There's a long list of acts that have played two times; Lambchop, Camera Obscura, Mr Hudson amongst them - and Wild Beasts have played three times!!!! Of this list both the Whip and Laura Veirs have played before....
Left feeling a bit underwhelmed by the announcement in all honesty... Do like The Wave Pictures and I've been listening to Local Natives album quite a bit. Agreed that the Whip are a cracking live band...
Probably not enough in there for me to want to get a ticket at the moment....

Cavey,
I think you're right about the Woodentops... because I think I saw a comment in a private forum a couple of weeks ago that the deal was pretty much signed...
Meant to post it on here at the time and then forgot..

It's a really horrible and difficult decision for me...
On one hand, I'm really proud of the way that Summer Sundae & The Big Session has put Leicester on the map and I wouldn't want to contribute to any sort of protest that affected that. And I have been to every one!!!
But on the other hand, Richard is a good friend of mine and to see the way that he has been treated within this whole sorry saga is shocking.
I guess it's simply too early to make a decision. At the moment, we don't really know how different the festivals might be from previous years. I know in Rob Challice's interview he states that he wants things to be similar and better and I suppose we have to believe that. When and if it's confirmed that the wide range of partners for the festival (The Musician, Comedy Festival, Phrased and Confused etc) are signed up and back for next year, then it'll give me some confidence that it's going to be the same sort of event!!
Things like local bands are important to me. Richard played a major part in sourcing and choosing the local bands that played each year and I honestly think that's been a massive success story of the festivals in recent years - I'd really like to know how that's going to work now.
I really want things to succeed. I'd love Richard to be able to clear his name (or at least get details of why he's suspended - a neutral act apparently). In fact, my main Christmas wish would be for things to be how they were last Christmas.....

If it does happen but without Richard H, Shambala can have my cash instead

Well - if it doesn't happen then the Leicester Mercury, printed in Nottingham, and put together by journalists and an editor who are only happy when publishing 'bad' news about Leicester will surely be very happy.
Two days after that article, I'm still incensed by the sensationalised half-truths and misplaced quotes put together by Adam Wakelin and thoroughly endorsed and praised in the editorial. It's a complete hatchet job and terrible journalism but as Sweeping the nation rightly mentions absolutely in line with the current ethos of the rag.

We'll be heading off on our journey to the secret location soon....
Most excited.....
But there's a blooming scaffolding lorry blocking my car in at my house....

Not wanting to automatically cast aspersions on Gigwise, but I was thinking the Friday review doesn't give a lot of specific eyewitness detail when I came to "Over on the indoor stage, human beatbox Beardyman..."

Can I please point out that none of these were me....

Hello there,
I always seem to have the most vivid and somewhat bizarre dreams when returning from festivals...
Last night was one of the 'best'....
I'd heard about a band playing a secret gig at a secret location (half four, Sunday, in a hidden room in the hall). I turned up and it was an odd mix of characters in a band called 'Death' who seemed more interested in how much they got paid rather than the quality of the music. For some reason they said it was a Camp Bestival benefit show although in my mind I knew they were playing at Summer Sundae and couldn't work out the premise!!!!
They weren't that good. I left after one song. I remember seeing Andy Black in my dream who was loving the band. Ed Leaf was indifferent to them and Kaybee wasn't there because she had to meet a fancy dress retailer at Kaybee's bench about a costume she wanted...
Fook!!!!

I think as it's the tenth year next year we should have an act from each year playing... Perhaps a band from each year that made a real impact.
So - Mr Scruff, Glenn Tilbrook, Belle and Sebastian, Kissmet, Infadels, Elbow would be some choices... Of Montreal would be fantastic....
But there should still be room on the bill for the up and coming bands which Summer Sundae does seem to always manage to find... And Wild Beasts should, or course, be made to play every single year!!!!

The infamous balcony dive.... Wow!!!

Top five for me has to be:-
(1) Monotonix - That was just an unbelievable set....
(2) New Beautiful South- Dancing with friends - so so happy at that way to end festival..
(3) The Kabeedies - Lovely band, lovely sounds...
(4) Frank Turner - What a songwriter...
and (5) The fact that every single person on site seemed friendly, up for a great time and helped to contribute to one of the 'fantasticest' Summer Sundaes ever...

A brilliant, brilliant night last night - a massive well done to the fringe team for bringing something so ambitious off to such a successful degree...
My night started in the Lansdowne for dinner and then off to the Donkey for the New Beautiful South. They were alright but I suspect they're storing most of their power up for Sunday night. Saw the excellent M48 indoors at the Donkey and a bit of the charismatic as ever David Wyatt before heading to the New Road Inn next door for Peter Wyeth (Ed - I agree!!!!)
Only downside of the evening so far was the seemingly random way of serving punters in both of these venues which led me to be waiting for at least half an hour at both bars (when it wasn't that busy) because the bar staff seemed to have no routine and were out to serve their mates....
Headed on a shuttle bus to the hall where we saw lots of people waiting for an open top. Decided to miss out on that and wandered past the Lansdowne where it looked busy and fun to the Hind. We managed to just miss Mr Plow but saw some poetry which, whilst not up my street, seemed to have the rest of the pub in the palm of hands.
Then on to Firebug to catch the end of maybeshewill and the whole set of Minaars. Powerful stuff all around. The first time I've caught Minaars and I wasn't disappointed.
Taxi home with Kerplunk after a right weird negotiation with the taxi driver.
Bring it on today...

Work is going so slowly today......

I went along to the opening of this exhibition last night...
It brings back a lot of great memories and it's well worth a visit for anyone with little to do on the morning of the festival.

Mixed feelings about Dananananackroyd....
I've spent months trying to master the pronounciation. I think I just about had it... Four ans Sean. get the beat. it's rather easy...
To now find out that I've got a simple introduction like Wild Beasts again... Gutted that I can't show off - happy because I'm less likely to make a fool of myself.
Now it's only BLK JKS and MUM and Missing People (Radio Collective) who might make me stutter to a stop.....
GOD _ I AM SO EXCITED>>>>>
