Disagree, I think we won. Absolutely can’t stand her, she’s not a Glastonbury artist if she’s more worried about the money anyway. Although I bet it’s great seeing her knowing that she only wants the pay out of it so have fun with that 🙄

Clearly not given she was booked to play 2020

  2. Cobblers. She's not announcing she's not playing any of the other festivals or cities she'd not playing either. It's not something that bands tend to do.

Besides, it's obvious from her dates that she's not doing it.

    Dionne Warwick?

    That would/could/should be a thing.

I'd definitely love to see her play, albeit in a different slot.

She was in the UK during Glastonbury week this summer, but it wasn't to be.

    Yes.

Think of all the dogshit artists down the years who have been inexplicably huge.

If the music press promotes it to no end, a good portion the general public will just go along thinking it must be good, like they do with any trend that gets overly promoted.

    Which music press is this?

    Ah see what you mean.

The difference is that a camper van is not a one off thing, they can last for decades. It's possible to obtain a camper van for less than the cost of one stay in some of those glamping sites, mine cost £3500. Although you could spend £250,000.

And that's fine if you think you'll get the use out of it - I know I wouldn’t and it makes sense coming from Scotland to have some kind of pre-booked tent in either a tipi or Worthy View.

The really high end options are a different matter, mind.

    I don't understand

A greater outlay in what way?

I don't own one myself so have no experience - but my assumption is that buying a campervan will involve some kind of monetary transaction.

Could be awkward if, in the increasingly unlikely scenario of The 1975 actually headlining El Pointo, Matty introduces Pater onstage for a rendition of ‘Send The Buggers Back’

Jimmy Nail guest spot to do Ain't No Doubt and Crocodile Shoes.

There is a school of thought that it is not such a great thing. Everyone inside the fence can be a great leveller. Working, middle and upper class all in it together, as it used to be. Everyone in the same situation rubbing along together. None of the I need all the facilities at hand otherwise I will not go (easier on tickets 🙂 if the facilities were not there) @russycarpswould put it better with more swear words. I can see that also as a good thing, probably ends up being more of a shared experience.

While I think this pov does have some merit, the argument against is that the caravan and campervan fields predate the glamping and arguably require even greater outlay - but noone really considers them a negative.

Still waiting to hear back from her, but this  is from the GFL site:

Hers are in the Tipi Village

    https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/accommodation/tipis/

She will provide some furnishing at extra cost

Are you sure?  The tipi village ones are supplied by Hearthworks

    https://hearthworks.co.uk/

There are 3 different tipi areas:

Tipi Field - open to the public, venues, drumming workshops and so on

Tipi Village - the Hearthworks ones sold by the festival directly. In a field next to the Tipi Field, but wristband access required

Tipi Park - backstage at The Park. I thought these were more for performers, VIPs, Lauren Laverene and so on.

Don’t want to be negative, but the Tipis go pretty much instantly. By all means try, but I wouldn’t get too attached to them anyway because the odds are you won’t get one, so not a good thing to be consisting worthy view etc.

Yup. They're rare as hens teeth.

    Thanks for the response.

Do they allow for worthy view parking purchase? Or do you have to do general parking ?

I'm afraid not - you'd also need a Worthy View booking to be able to access the site via Worthy View.

You'd have to go to general parking.

For anyone considering a Tipi for next year, can I suggest booking with my friend Sam. Her Tipi's are on site, within the Tipi field next to the Park. They're probably cheaper than offsite alternatives, are actually on site and your cash will be going to proper old school festival goers not some soulless company cynically exploiting the festival.

    Keep it real!

Here's her website, Glastonbury link not up yet but you could contact her

    http://www.wigwamsam.co.uk/glastonbury-womad-festival-tipi-hire.htm

Interesting - any idea of prices?
